McHistory
Nhl hockey today – Edmonton oilers vs nashville predators was a big game for both, but connor mcdavid 1000th point potentially being on the docket definitely grabbed plenty of focus, and you could just feel that he was gonna get it in this one. Predators vs oilers highlights don’t do the actual game justice it was great. Connor mcdavid 100 points on a leon draisaitl assist is poetic and they both even discussed it postgame as the mcdavid draisaitl duo rolls on. More like McBust
In an era where scoring is far harder!!
Finally, now Kurri who was picked in the fourth round in 1980 isn't the last player drafted by the Oilers to have 1,000 NHL points anymore. It's been awhile. Congratulations Connor.
Leon to McDavid for the 1000 how fitting.
Definitely one of the best players in the history of this sport. By the end of his career he will be right up there with the other legends.
1000 against the worst team in the league 😂
I'm a Flyers fan and I love hearing about McDavid. I'm lucky to have seen Gretzky play live with Edmonton, Mario, every 92 All Star. I was going to 30 games a year from the mid 80s to late 90s. I saw Lindros come in like a wrecking ball. I got to see Bedard last year. This year… I'm seeing McDavid, Leon and Michkov hopefully in the same game. I can't wait to see how fast 97 is in person!
And yet there are still some people who refuse to acknowledge that McDavid is one of the greatest hockey players ever simply because he hasn't won the Stanley Cup yet. But alas, haters gonna hate.
Nobody will every catch Gretzky.
2nd all time leading scorer easily. Hopefully couple of hundred more points than 3rd.
It's unlikely he catches Gretzky's point record, but if he pulls a Jagr or Chelios, and plays well into his 40s, it is possible.
To be fair other players on that list also had injuries season and lockouts. The "what-if" should never be considered, just what is.
I hope McDavid goes "I've just about McFucking had it" and simply solo carries the team to a cup. Probably won't happen hockey being a team sport and all but would be pretty cool to see.
2000 points is a lock for him as long as he is healthy. Even if he slowed down to point per game from now till he's 40 he would still get near 2000
There is literally one thing left for Connor to do before he retires and that's win a cup. Not counting non-forward awards, the dude has won every single trophy you could ask a player of his calibre to win, save for the Selke and Stanley Cup
He will break 99 record. He's a point wizard
If it wasn't for the injury or short seasons I truly think he would be at at least 1200 points
Just imagine that I'm old school I get that players are faster and more skilled but what a phenom crazy
That pass in OT was an absolute beauty
If he's healthy, I think it's not even a question that McDavid becomes the second player to break 2,000 points
There are no weak players to feast on anymore. 4th liners might not have the skill to finish but they are fast, strong and tough to play against. This is impressive in any era but certainly in the modern one. Not unlike Ovi catching Gretzky for the goal scoring record.
I watched him and Gretzky in their prime live. They are just so different from anyone else. Took my daughter to a game last week and her first comment to me was, "yeah you are right Dad he is really quick." When someone who is not normally a sports fan can see it instantly it says all you need to say.
Too bad he'll never win a cup
Fantastic player of course but hockey is a team game, the other players with huge numbers did win the Stanley cup & on numerous occasions by some. McDavid has 1 Western conference cup & lots of solo gongs, how he'd gladly swap them for the 1 that really counts?
If he plays until he's 40 he'll probably hit 2k
Connor McDavid often doesn't get the respect he deserves. Earlier this year ESPN made a list of the top 100 athletes since 2000 and McDavid barely made the list at 98 and a lot of hockey fans were upset by that. I personal blame hockey fans and hockey media for this. I think he doesn't get the respect he deserves outside of hockey because so much of the headlines and conversation about him appear obligated to include the same tired and juvenile jokes, seemingly taken right out of McDonald's commercials. Yes, his surname is McDavid. Just like McDonald's!! yuk, yuk
Sorry, dude, I don't mean to roast you badly, but when I saw "McHistory" in my feed, I just rolled my eyes. Congratulations Connor on your Happy Meal milestone. Hopefully, by the time you reach your next one, we can talk about you as if you were an adult. I have my doubts. In 10-15 years we will be hearing about his McInduction into McHall of Fame.
People talk a lot of crap on McD for no Cups yet. I'm confident he will win multiple cups. He is the most gifted hockey player I've ever seen. People talked crap on Crosby back in the day, he's now practically universally loved among the league's fan. McDavid will be seen the same way. He will go down as one of the most cherished players of all time.
2000+ if he plays till 39/40
👏
Come back when you get a cup.
McWhoCares when you don't win in the playoffs
Other than his ROOKIE season he hasn't scored less than 100 points MINIMUM….. absolutely sickening!!
I'm a Red Wings fan living in Edmonton so I see him play alot. especially last season he scored 6 assists against my wings. It was just jaw dropping. Several Red Wings fans including myself were standing tipping our hats after his spin-o-rama assist.
what a time to be a hockey fan!!!
What does Nikita Kucherov have to do to get recognized as a generational talent
For him to beat Ron Francis he'd have to hall ass at 1.3 points per game for the rest of his career unless he can play as many games as Messier/Jagr
Doe McDavid resign if they don’t get a cup in the next couple seasons ?
No one is talking about Vasilevskiy who became the fastest goalie to 300 wins on the same night! 🙄
Its so incredibly. We watch the game and it was so crazy i am so happy for him. I wish him the stanley cup this season and a healthy season go Oilers go
why do we count stats from when the league was straight plumbers
If the Oilers don’t manage to win a cup with him it’ll be the biggest wasted potential in NHL history
Mcnobdy cares
1000th like for 1000 points
I forget the opposing Coach who said it but it's perfect:
"McDavid is playing in the best league in the world with the fastest and best players and he stands out like a sore thumb."
also got to love the shirts that the oilers wore with McDavid's face after the game
I was at the game I was so happy when they won the game in overtime 😅 let’s go Davo
Year 28 through 34 seasons avg 125pts. That's 875. He'll pick up at least 90 more this season (my guess is closer to 110).
He gets 2000, barring a trade to TO.
McWontwincup
I hope mcD gets 2k career. He may be the GOAT by the time he's done
My prediction is that McJesus will finish his career top 3 all time and will stay on the 0ilers, so he will have 0 chips.
This guy is the most spectacular hockey player I've ever seen. And I'm old enough to have seen Gretzky play as a kid in the Québec international Pee-Wee Tournament. The health question is the prime concern. Will his knees hold up in the long run?
