  1. soto to toronto? yankees? mets? red sox? dodgers? ? FT milking this for all it's worth (which isn't much)
this is the only soto segment i'm watching until he actually signs

  2. When the Blue Jays acquired Encarnacion, he was 25. His first full year with them, he was 26.

That was 14 years ago. Bautista hit 54 hr.

Just some perspective of how long it will feel when a 14 year deal would end.

  3. Soto is going to one of the two teams in NY. To think differently is to fall into Boras's trap. He's building the market to get the most money for Soto.

  4. And you can stick it to the Yankees. If the Jays managed to sign Soto, I’d put all the Yankees games Monday through Wednesday or Thursday and you’d guarantee mid-week sellouts for the next 14 or 15 years.

  5. Soto is so overrated. I wouldn’t give him over 400M. No d, can’t run and he’s 26. Laughable to mention him and Ohtani. Ohtani is worth 1B.

  6. Yeah sure. Turn down $400 million from DC, play 6 years without a security blanket just to end up in Toronto. Not happening. All this BS is Boras self creating interest in his client. Hoping it hangs on all winter and hasn’t a contract come spring training, sound familiar??

  7. Jays aren't getting Soto. Even if we went full throttle and gave him a blank cheque, he wouldn't want to come here. Additionally, he's not worth 600 million, not even close. He's a great hitter and nothing more

  8. BNS shows how far out to lunch he is saying he would consider a rebuild. You have Vladdy and Bo in their prime years and an owner with deep pockets. You have to maximize those years while you can. A rebuild makes no sense whatsoever

  9. Yankees losing Rizzo? No loss. Yankees losing Gleyber? No loss. Yankees losing Holmes? Replaceable loss. Those 3 off the roster means the Yanks have a lot more money to sign Teoscar and other FAs that would get them over the top.

  10. Giving any 26 year old player a 14 year contract is absolutely ridiculous and moronic. Is management insane? Does anyone remember how bad Albert Puhols was in the last few years of his mega contract? He was horrible and way overpaid.

  11. One player doesn’t win baseball games like other sports. We’ve seen how the Angels turned out when they had Ohtani. You still need a bunch of great players on the team to be successful, and Ohtani’s contract certainly made easier for the Dodgers to get more good players in order to compete for championships. But if Soto doesn’t defer, I think it might be too hard for other teams to build a great team unless that owner is willing to go beyond his threshold to pay more money.
