What is Wrong with the Boston Bruins?
The Boston Bruins have not been playing well, and it is starting to get concerning for Boston Bruins fans. They currently sit in third place in the Atlantic with an 8-8-2 record but easily could be in last because the teams below them have played fewer games.
I wanted to investigate the issues facing the Boston Bruins’ management, players, and coaching staff. Should the Bruins fire Jim Montgomery? Should they make a big trade? What will help the Boston Bruins?
I want to hear from you in the comments, though, as to what you think some of their most significant issues are.

What do you think the issue is?
8 MILLION! The issue is that we got lucky for years. They are not a top caliber team and we are seeing that now.
This team lacks Moral and discepline. This group is not jelling.
upper management is the cause of their decline- size does not equate skill, special teams are terrible, timing and anticipation of plays matches Special teams level
McAvoy is so overrated! He's the one they should trade.
The problem is the B's window was with Bergy and Krejci that final year. Lacking the top line center creates a problem that was hidden last year with the team playing extremely well and the goalie duo standing on their head. But another year, still no top center, Swayman trying to get into the groove without training camp, and the changes focused on beating the Panthers gutted the speed on the team just makes them look bad on the ice. Throw in undisciplined play and inability to kill off those penalties and we have a team that just doesn't look good. On the plus side, as bad as the team looks, they are still in the mix. And if the goalies get hot at the right time, it may end up turning around.
Spot On Post! Very enjoyable. We do need a blockbuster. Do we chase Tage Thompson?
The coach came in and had a stacked team. Those players are gone, now his coaching is showing that something is lacking. He is not the only issue, this team has no drive or pride.
Sweeney is what's wrong with the Bruins or should I say the bad big Bruins they were in denial about the offense and never fixed the second line right wing like they needed to all along… the methodology to try to replace Patrice Bergeron's defense was bordering insanity since he is a once-in-a-lifetime type of player… just because they won the Stanley Cup that year with the least amount of goals scored doesn't mean you can design your whole team around that a decade later…
the man should have been fired many years ago he's living in the 80s
For what I’ve been seeing, something tells me that “some” of these players “don’t” want to play for Monty and are hoping to get traded. They realize that this is the place they thought would be a good fit but in actuality it’s not.
I wanted them to get bigger and tougher but they just got bigger and slower. Their biggest problem now is they have no skill up front. Their only option is bring up Poitras Lysell and Merk. At least they “might” have upside.
Maybe its time to head hunt some better coaching staff also
Trade Pastrnak for picks, and then that way Geekie gets more PP time…win, win. It’s not that hard, I should be Bruins GM, I missed my calling.
I would like to see Hall and DeBrusk back.
It’s like they have no identity no life. One period every three games they play Bruins hockey. Don’t know their is a lot of players that look lost!
I’ll defend the Backes signing to my grave. He was a great leader and could’ve been a great top six center, instead they used him as a winger and he never found his stride. His first season he started centering Marchand and Pasta while Bergeron recovered from an injury at the World Cup, and he absolutely lit it up. Instead of leaving them together when Bergeron came back, they just HAD to put Bergeron and Marchand back together. They could’ve put Bergeron with some other guys to elevate their game and kept the magic together.
Not to mention scratching Backes for game 7 against the blues – the team that just told him “we’re letting you go as our captain because we don’t think you’re worth it” – like he didn’t have the most motivation of anyone on the roster. I really think the Bs did Backes dirty.
1. Why are power play and PK only on the coaching staff
2. Is Marchand still going to be a core? He’s getting older and his contract expires this year I believe
I agree that Montgomery is taking more heat than deserved. In general I have a little more optimism than the video (and especially the comment section). 8-8-2 really isn’t dire straights, even if it’s very poor by Bruin’s standards. Plus they got 2 of their automatic Panthers losses out of the way 🙁
