And then there’s me and my friend group who started watching the A’s because they are coming to Sac
Baseball is a dying sport.
I'm done with MLB
It's not just the move, but ownership not spending on the team, not working with Oak-Ala to improve the Coliseum, the failure of the team not to pursue a stadium project at the coliseum (even though they owned a piece of the property. It was not the move, but the soul being ripped out of the franchise.
Ballers are high because, they have been in the news for being a new team.
Done with baseball
Not an OAK fan but no joy in seeing them move. I live in IA where there are 6 teams that are within about the same distance. Not just MLB, but I've seen the relocation threats with the MN teams, now MIL and of course 2 STL Football teams actually relocated. While I love baseball, and the other pro sports, I find myself backing away from it as these owners are all about money. I still enjoy it, but not to the extent I once did.
Once Tax Dollars STOP Being Used To Support & Build Stadiums For Teams. Is When Owners Have To Spend Their Own Money To Build Them, Things Will Change. The Owners Will Always Go To Where The FREE Money Is!
Never liked the A's. Go GIANTS to
I am a rocky's mariners fan. But I have to admit I've really had hard time watching this year because of Oakland. I am disgusted by how much of a business instead of a sport baseball has become. I support every single Oakland fan who never watches MLB again.
I think this happened before, when the doubled-up cities of MLB saw their teams moving away: Braves from Boston to Milwaukee and later on to Atlanta; Giants from NY to SF; Dodgers from Brooklyn to LA; A’s from Philly to KC and later on to Oakland; Senators to Minnesota and then the second Senators to Dallas; and the Browns from St. Louis to Baltimore. I strongly suspect that those affected fans dumped baseball for football, basketball, hockey, and soccer, considering the rise of all four of those sports from the early 50s into the late 70s.
They all had attendance rises viewership increases on the tube.
So far as I know, there’s never been research (or at least serious research) into what the affected fanbases eventually did.
Keep following up on this! We are mostly in an overall expansion era, but these relocations still are happening across the board. There’s an interesting and highly irritating subject for you to track.
I quit watching MLB during Covid. Granted, Covid wasn't MLB's fault. What really did it for me was when MLB decided to move the 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta to Colorado when Georgia passed an Election Integrity Act. MLB decided to virtue signal and cost local businesses, fans, etc. Also, the Astros cheating scandal where the players weren't punished in exchange for cooperating with the investigation. Also, the stupid rule where extra innings start with a runner at 2nd. Rob Manfred is a joke.
I wasnt an A's fan or really any other professional sports team fan for my adult life and given the way all professional teams operate in America I dont see that ever changing. I know that at the end of the day these sports teams are company brands and they dont care about their fans or the communities they are in beyond getting the community to pay for the stadium.
I'm a Cleveland Guardians fan, and this strikes me as very 95 Browns. I'm not gonna stop watching baseball, but the A's are getting as little money from me as possible
They lost me in ticket sales, apparel , bay area sports channel, all that,
I voted on your poll Brody, but my true choice is I'm done with MLB too. Might casually watch the Tigers next year but no games, no merchandise no hotdogs, no MLB app, no streaming games. Baseball didn't care about Oakland so I don't care about baseball anymore.
East Bay native who donated their A's hats. I am done with baseball. Warriors first with recent addition of Sharks second.
I think baseball needs a new commissioner. Rob Manfred has made too many moves that ruin the game, from the defiling of uniforms with ads, the unearned runner on second base in the extra innings, and allowing an owner to tank so he can move the team. Time for new leadership.
Walking away from the MLB completely.
MLB is abandoning their fans for MORE MONEY! MLB is “cutting its own throat”
With this being new and raw still, maybe do the survey again with the "done" option in March.
My soccer team moved about 17 years ago. I followed them faithfully until we got a replacement team
This is the very reason why baseball is more than just a game or sport. There are passionate and loyal fanbases who give everything to support the team and the sport they love. It's very sad to see fanbases like the A's, Expos, even Rays fans suffer due to executives who have lost that passion and solely chase the Almighty buck only to leave those loyal fanbases to the waste side when they decide to make irresponsible decisions. Does it matter to them that they lost a million fans, likely not because the sad reality of the situation in these executives minds is they could make up those numbers elsewhere. They miss the point. I am following the rays and A's situation closely and I stand in solidarity with those fans baseball allegiance aside. Not one of this is best for the fans in the past present or future to come. It's truly sad these fans are getting shafted like this. No fan should have to experience anything like this.
The Ballers are acceptance that Oakland can do no better, it’s a fail
Don't give MLB a dime. Let the billionaire owners get money from somebody else.
The San Francisco Giants did everything they could to drive the A’s from Oakland. I cannot understand how ANY A’s fan could switch their allegiance to the Giants. If the Taliban had a baseball team and they played the Giants, I would root for the Taliban. I’m done with MLB—they won’t get another penny from me!
I love the grounded reality of this channel!!!
If you are not in the financial market space right now, you are making a huge mistake. I understand that it could be due to ignorance, but if you want to make your money work for you..prevent inflation
I had planned to visit all MLB stadiums after retirement. Not anymore, I'm done with MLB. Plus, I don't care for the rule changes.👎
No longer in CA and live in college town in PNW. Loosely follow college baseball and West Coast League team here. Go to one WCL home game per year.
Went to one Mariners game with family there. Barely watched playoffs and WS. Don't want to be buy merch and feel pretty detached as a fan.
