NHL executive believes Carolina would be in on Binnington should he become available in the next few weeks.

  1. Binnington and Pytor. We are going to have to add a goalie fight coach.

Edit: He is way overpaid for his current performance. I hope this isn’t the route.

  2. Collect all the psychopath goalies.

    EDIT:
Binnington has a $6m cap hit for this and the next 2 season.

The Canes don’t have the cap space now to bring him in without the Blues retaining or a 3d team involved. I very much doubt this happens.

If it gets desperate, there are better short-term options that will be available for trade. Even Ned would do in a pinch playing behind the Canes defense.

  3. Him and Kooch on the same roster?

Has there ever been a goalie fight in Canes history? There soon will be 😂

  4. Man, this is so conflicting. On one hand, being traded means that the Blues are farther away than what Doug/Steen anticipate (not saying they’re winning a cup in the next 2 years)…

But on the other hand, would he be an absolute rock for the Canes. It’ll cost you a pretty penny I imagine, but I’m telling you, he’s worth every penny

  5. Freddie had to physically drag Kooch back to the bench when he tried to join in the scrum at STL. Binnington would be pushing him over the boards and following right behind, lol

  6. This dude is legit psycho, so unless we truly can’t get someone who is better on and off ice I guess

  7. Jesus no. If Koch’s temperament is a liability, Binnington’s is old dynamite in a bumper car at a poorly regulated state fair.

  8. There’s nothing to this. Blues are crippled by injuries right now and they’re not going to sell themselves short in light of this. Robert Thomas and Phillip Broberg will be back by next month, probably. There’s the Winter Classic around the corner. Things need to get much worse before this happens, and Binnington is more valuable to them than most people realize. Also, mid-season #1 goalie trades are rare, and they rarely work out when they do.

I also feel that this kind of goes against the Canes track record with goalies. As long as Dundon has been around, they have seemed more budget-minded with goalies.

  9. At least we’d have a goalie without a history of injuries? And one with experience winning the cup. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it either.
