  1. Not sure if he plays, but he’s having an amazing start of the season down at abby.

edit: [Elias Pettersson (D) has been Abbotsford’s most consistent defender. He’s got 4 assists, is the only active defender with a plus rating (+3) and averages over a hit and block per game with ~18 minutes per night. He logged a season-high 20:52 on the top pair last night. #Canucks](https://x.com/davehall1289/status/1858284215563096187)

  2. I’m pretty surprised they’d call him up without an obvious spot in the lineup. Though I guess the AHL team only has like one game in the next 5-6 days.

Probably just a chance to get some practice time in with the big club and familiarize with the coaches unless someone is dealing with an injury we haven’t heard about.

  3. on the one hand, great for the guy to get a call up and earn his NHL paycheque.

on the other hand, i feel like half our roster is gonna be AHL guys by January just due to the number of injuries we’re incurring

  4. It’s time to swap to Nils and Frederick Pettersson jerseys. And I hope they give him the number 42.

  5. I think recall has to do with not only Forbort on IR but Desharnais being day to day since he tweaked something. Right now, D-Petey is the only fully healthy extra defenseman sine Juulsen is filling in for Desharnais.

  6. Good for him, get some reps with the big team, get an NHL paycheck. Good experience. I doubt he plays unless they’re very high on him or we have a freak injury, but this is a good sign.

  7. Tough luck for Forbort this season. Wasn’t overly impressed by his game, but a shame nonetheless. Hoping everything’s alright. With that being said… I’m very happy D-Petey’s getting a shot at the big club and excited to see how he plays, given that a lot of the Abby reporters have said he’s the best d-man on the team. Brannstrom-D-Petey could be a legit awesome third pairing if it all works out

  8. I’m optimistic, but my god, what a difference it makes having good drafting and development of young players compared to recent history.

I cannot recall a time in my life where this many rookies showed the ability to contribute at the pro level in our system

  9. Pettersson dumps it in, chased by Pettersson who grabs it in the corner and rings it back around to Pettersson. Now to Pettersson along the half wall, back to Pettersson at the point, Pettersson shoots! Rebound! Pettersson scores!

Pettersson from Pettersson at 4:20 of the first period.

  10. Even though Elias Pettersson hasn’t “made” the NHL yet by playing a game, this is still significant for him to be called up. What an amazing find by the scouting staff. Kudos to them for drafting a player to be even good enough for a call up. There’s not many that make it even this far after getting drafted

  11. Excellent… I like to see him getting a bit of face time with the NHL coaching staff and roster.

This time next year, he could be a good addition to the squad.

  12. Would be nice if he had an umlaut or two in his name to add to our umlaut arsenal and to make the obvious distinction.

  13. Legally speaking, could we trade Elias Pettersson to another team but give them the wrong one?

  14. One more infinity Pettersson added to the collection, he will only make the other Pettersson stronger.
