L g m thanks so much Ryan ! I am very worried about Soto a speed and defense in the outfield though🤔. Does his bat trump those concerns ? Thank you!
Mets v yankees aka soto v judge
Hey man I respect the grind 🤝🏼
Soto’s return to the NL East will be wild.
Of course it needs to be more than Otani! My estimate is 770 million , 14 years , 55 million per year
Soto using Cohen drive price up. Bunch of bullshit. Sign Santander resign Pete and Manea sign Corbin
yo my team every day
Yankees should NOT sign Soto. They had him this year and were destroyed by the Dodgers. (The Mets would have probably beat the Yankees as well.) Yankees have multiple holes 🕳️ to fill. For the same price as Soto the Yankees can get 3 all-stars.
Cohen should just give Soto 700M and free up the market place before New Year's.
Why is Soto worth more than Ohtani?
Cohen and the mets can have Soto for 660 M, he is not worth that price. Ohtani brings a fan base that brings revenue that actually pays for his contact, Soto can't do that. Ohtani is a 2 way player, Soto is great yet he is not the best at his position.
There’s no way Mets come in with their opening bid especially from a $ guy with the minimum salary expectations which is why I call BS on anything close to 600+. This is absolutely about to jack up the price. I hate these 10+ years deals. They end up as an albatross around the neck of a franchise just weighing them down. Especially when you get into their 30s. This is a a below average fielder. He doesn’t steal bases. He needs protection. AAV is going to matter to this team. Mets can’t just wait this out. They have soooo many players they need to sign.
They need to make sure they are still adding on run production. Those $40+ million AAV will effect spending especially when you need a bat to protect Soto. So, he’s still not going to give you as much value unless you have Pete or another prolific run producer behind him. Then that bat needs to be protected by a vientos, but many young hitters struggle in their 2nd season. You hope he steps up, but you get a glove 1st/bat 2nd player to man the hot corner if he struggles defensively. I don’t want vientos at 1st. It weakens the team & his value. If the Mets don’t get Pete, Carlos Santana still plays a very solid 1st base & can still hit enough to be a stop gap if the Mets want to make a run at vladdy in 2026. You then need either a 2B or OF. Mauricio doesn’t seem like he’s going to be ready by spring training as he hasn’t even resumed baseball activities.Another stop gap until one of the 300 SS/2B or you could get a bat like Santander & put McNeil back at 2B until 1 of the prospects are ready. You still need another bat!
Mets need an Ace! I like Snell, but how much is he going to cost for a high AAV deal, Burnes 2nd. I would love fried but I don’t see him signing as a Met. Possibly a 2nd 1A level pitcher especially when you will have to go to a 6 man rotation when there’s no off days. I like Walker Buhler in this position He seems like such a good fit & possibly trading low level prospects for a mid to back end rotation wjth Peterson as your 5. I like a 2 year deal for Bieber who can fill that 6th spot sparingly until he’s built up his pitch count in the 2nd half & potential 3rd pitcher in these short series if nobody else steps up. Then you can sign several minor league deals to give a Sproat a chance to make the team or come up to take a spot if there’s an injury or someone isn’t performing. Megill or buto can be openers & or long men options adding to your depth or possibly one of those minor league deals becomes a swing man. Always having as much depth in the rotation & innings for the bullpen so the high leverage relievers aren’t burned out by July is a very high priority. I know the Mets will shop in the bargain bin for relievers, but I like to get 1 preferably 2 former closers to setup & need be takeover the closing position as a lot of trust has eroded from Diaz.
You need to have contingency plans. The Mets weren’t prepared this past season for all the injuries & some players not living up to their potential & this coming year they have to have not just stars, but a quantity of quality when things go wrong as they inevitably do, imho.
The difference between the Mets and Yankees this years is, that if the Mets get Soto they can still spend to get other players. but if the Yankees get Soto they cant get anything else and just go with what they have, and on top of that they have to give Cole and raise as well since they convinced him to stay with them, so you know if soto gets paid with the yanks, Cole will be all over that. and thats something the Yankees cant possibly do. Only the Mets Can.
The AAV is gonna start at 50 million
Did anyone think cohen wasn’t going to 700? Idk what’s shocking here. Yanks never were and this is to embarrass them. For 700M if I was cohen I’d want to shove it in just a lil.
Aaron Judge, the top bat 2 years ago, got $40 million per year at age 31… Soto is definitely getting more than $40 million per year as he’s 5 years younger and this is 2 years later… Figure he’s getting $45 million per year at least x 13 years at least… = $585 million+ (Likely gets to about $600+ million in total in all likelihood).
What you make of the reports the Mets offered at 660?
Mets are the favoritss for exactly one day. Enjoy the last couple of hours before the Yankees meeting.
22:56 why is that the move? The end of that contract is going to be bad. He’s not gonna be able to run! Hopefully still hit but why does a 15 year $700 million contract sound better than a 12 year 700? That’ll take him to him being 38 years old and he gets more money annually! It’s only 12 more million a year
26:17 I don’t think you’re overshooting the money. I think you’re overshooting the years.
Is the rumor that the Mets made an offer, true?
Need Pitching — Stearns knows this
I still see him going back to the Yankees and envision himself saying at his presser, “Hey, we made the World Series last season, now I’m back to finish the job.” The Mets can’t offer that
mets dont need soto. they need pitching. stop it. your rather sign Juan Soto than your own homegrown Pete Alonzo? what a joke. at least Yankees resign Judge their homegrown product.
No
All you Mets fans last month were crying that
the Dodgers are buying championships 😂
I would have to assume he only projected more money than everyone else due to his age. Because by stats, he is not the best hitter. Judge and Ohtani are 1 and 2. No question just by stats last 3 years. I think Y. Alvarez is even better. So that put Soto at 4 at best. And IMO, Freddie Freeman is better hitter. I would not over pay for Soto even at his age. Go hard for Vlad. JR. Then another strong hitter and 2 really good SP. Lock up young talent long term just like Braves did. Where would braves been this year if half their team wasn't hurt??? Mets missing playoffs! Look at big picture here. We have good young bats for future. Need pitching to follow. Figure that out and then playoffs every year.
He’s just not worth all that money.
