  1. Im at Yankee fan & can say yes I would love Soto back however one player is not going to win games for us. Soto is generational yet I'd take that money and go get Burns, Flagherty, Walker or Alonso & Bregman. That would improve our team much more than just one player.

  2. Soto isn't worth 660M. He was dwarfed by Judge this season, and if he stays he will be for the next 3-5 years. He's 500M for 12 years. But if Cohen wants to throw his money around he can be like the Yankees from 1946-1962. Or he can end up like the Braves of the Glavine, Smoltz, Maddux years and have only one ring to show. 500M for Soto. Even that's pushing it.

  3. I really don’t want this dragging out for the next 3 months. Lock him in now and get it done. We need to plan around him
And this can’t hold us up while everyone else gets inked to deals

  4. This is just meant to start a bidding war. There’s no reason for any negotiation to start at the expected ceiling. Cohen has made his whole business working the numbers. This is a reporter who is advocating for an agent & his client. I’m not sure this gets to 700 million because it would balloon a team’s entire payroll. I don’t trust these crazy double digit year contracts. Halfway in they start to age like sour milk. The way this jumps in price is years. He will want 13 year’s minimum & it probably goes into his age 40. Close to FIFTEEN years for a guy who slugs & gets on base. He can’t play defense & he can’t run the bases. Even low 40s AAV can prevent a lot more players from being signed. The Mets can’t wait like they did 2 years ago. They did nothing & watched players come off the board & got stuck with Tommy Pham. I think they should use this $ on Pete for less than 1/2 the years & use the rest towards anything else, imho.

  5. We Jays fans are rooting for you!! As good as Soto would look in blue, $600,000,000 is beyond ridiculous. For that same $600 million, you could land Bregman, Fried AND get Verlander for a year coming out of the pen!!
