[Noh] Is Josh Giddey the new Cameron Payne? Bulls history may be repeating after another bad Thunder trade

He does have a slightly less “punch me” face than Cam if we are being positive.
It was a bad trade because we traded away a win now player in Caruso for something other than draft capital.
Man this sub sucks lol. Either have threads like this or comments stroking him as the best trade of all time. We are 14 games into the season, how about letting the kid play a bit before crying about it?
Coming into the season, I was excited about Giddey getting a fresh start. However, I do feel a lot of Giddey’s problems come from a lack of effort and self-awareness. He seems to believe he already is a superstar worthy of a large payout, and because of this, isn’t willing to put forth the work needed to realize his true potential.
Who would have thought the guy is bad at everything here he was bad at there. Dude needs the ball to even look like an NBA player and all it does it take touches from better guys. What a waste.
I’m mad because we traded Caruso straight up for him, instead of getting some future assets. Both are expiring contracts so we did nothing to help our future.
Another bad trade? Sorry, but we look like the winners of this Giddey trade so far. Caruso has been injured this season and his stats are down.

Every negative comment about Giddey being downvoted is ridiculous, this is how we end up giving him the worst contract in the league. He’s currently probably the 8th best player on this team and people still think he has star potential.
Then again, Cam Payne was one of the best 6th man in the league for a short spell. If Giddey can be that for us, that’s not that bad.
Not sure why some people are crying, the article title? It’s a fair article about his season so far, not a hit piece. He’s been ass and still has the same general offensive flaws he did with the Thunder, while not trying on defense.
But looking at the stats I’m mainly just surprised Ayo is right there with him in how bad many of his advanced stats are, I thought he’s been an ok backup so far. I guess I expect less backup vs starter, and we really did not make that trade hoping to get an ok backup PG in Giddey. If Giddey just ends up as a serviceable backup the trade feels like a loss.

My take has not much to do with this trade in particular. I just think Presti is reaching peak Bellicheck levels. Other GMs should not answer the phone when he calls. He’s better than they are, and they won’t be winning that trade.
This guy is not seeing anything close to $30M annually
People who are mad at this article didn’t read past the headline b/c a lot of the article is pretty damning. He doesn’t compare their skillsets, but compares them as failing tank commanders… and he has some points why Giddey experiment is failing:
– Giddey is already getting played off the court, with him not being in closing lineups these past few games. (I remember I used to be pissed when PWill couldn’t close lineups so this is a real issue)
– Giddey shoots 37% from 3… on 3.6 attempts a game. Defenses will give up 1/2 3pt shots in order to have his defender play help on everyone else and slow down the offense.
– Giddey is a disappointing slasher, only averaging 3 FTs a game. He is also one of the league’s most blocked guards & shoots 48% on shots within 3 feet (ranks 263rd out of 282)
– Giddey’s plus-minus ranks 465th out of 471 players… Bulls have been outscored 111 points when he is on the court.
– In Giddey’s minutes, Bulls have a -12.1 net rating, which is 33% worse than last season 14 win Pistons. His non-minutes have resulted in a -0.6 net rating, which is slightly below .500 teams
What is there to defend here?
