On average, simulations using ESPN’s Basketball Power Index (BPI) show the seventh-place team in the East winning 38 games…to get there, Philly must go 36-34 the rest of the way.

Think sixers are one of the teams with the most back to backs remaining as well.
We’re playing the Celtics in Rd1 aren’t we?
45 wins seems like a dream right now. That’s always been my baseline as an acceptable low-end outcome season.
41-41 should be achievable on paper, but I can’t really imagine how we get there given how this season is going. Will the 3 stars even play 30 games together?
The East is such a poverty conference lol
Gotta pull up that flustered Charlie Day meme for all the “WELL Joel and PG will still play a combined 45 games together and the team will go 33-12 in those so all Maxey and McCain need to do is Super Youth another 10 wins and this team is GOLDEN” fans
Not sure if we’ll get it, but if Embiid plays 50 games, we could win 36 of those.
Bad news Joel. You’re playing back to backs. Tough shit.
I would guess given PG + Embiid’s injury history that it’s unlikely.
If Joel is himself and plays like 45 games then it should be fine. We’ll see if he can be relatively normal or not.
how is this already on the cusp of being another gap year. this team just can’t be normal wtf
That’s a big ask smh
So in other words if they go 40-30 the rest of the way they’d be like the 5/6 seed
Death, taxes, and the East being dogshit
“Omg. That’s impossible”

Imagine a finals team that went 38-44 in the regular season 💀
I mean I hope the Sixers get to be a playoff team, but I’m not seeing it this year. It’s tough to win after making so many roster moves, need time for guys to gel. Find me a championship team that came Year 1 of a roster overhaul. Sucks that Colangelo created a dumpster fire around Embiid that took half a decade to clean up, but it’s the position Adam Silver put the Sixers in. We have Maxey-McCain-PG-Caleb Martin-Joel locked in for the foreseeable future, so these guys are only going to get better as a team as they learn how to play together well.
Plus, if there was ever a year for the Sixers to rejoin the bottom of the league and become a lottery team, it’s this year. Sixers going for Cooper Flagg could be like when the Spurs tanked for Duncan
Look, I’d rather the Sixers not me dog shit at 2-10, but at least there’s some direction and way more hope for the future. I think Embiid is the best player in the NBA, and as long as he’s on the team the Sixers have a chance to figure it all out. Even if it looks like we’re a play-in team at best with the team right now.
Joel is gonna play 50 games max this year. George will play 60. Maxey will play 65. These are best case scenarios. It’s absolutely possible but with the amount of time missed and lack of playing with each other it’s gonna take time to get going. It’s gonna be tough and this team isn’t tough.
And what about 6th place? It would be ideal to skip the play-in all together.
The sooner everyone accepts that this season is going nowhere, the sooner you can enjoy the few bright spots like watching McCain develop.
There is no point stressing out about things that are an obvious forgone conclusion, which is a Sixers elimination likely in the play-in or first round. Even getting to the second would be a huge achievement and is absolutely the ceiling for this team this year.
So if you tune out, you might be able to paradoxically tune back in for the small things.
Idk how someone doesn’t lose their job after this disaster season. Literally the most hyped season in team history and they’re the worst team in the nba
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned here is that the schedule is not kind. It’s been easy so far and they are 2-10. Havent played the Celtics. Haven’t played any of the top five or six teams in the West. This will make it much more difficult.
