[Ryan Bass] The #Rays released photos of the damage inside Tropicana Field in the days following Hurricane Milton, and it’s catastrophic.

  1. Sweet mother of Jesus Christ this is bad. I don’t think we are gonna see baseball at Tropicana field again.

  2. I have to compliment the photographer. That’s some good post-apocalyptic photography, especially the lighting on the first one.

  3. I believe them when they say the damage is bad, but these photos don’t really reveal much. It looks dirty sure, but all the visibly damaged stuff is soft material and surface level items being strewn about.

  4. I knew it was bad, I didn’t know it was this fucking bad. I get why fixing it long term isn’t even an option.

  5. It just looks like the roof is strewn around which you would expect. I don’t think spending even 1 dollar on repairing it makes sense tho

  6. i’m just glad that the rays in the tank are safe

Sorry if this is a really stupid question but i genuinely don’t know. For the folks who work at the Trop, what is going to happen to them? Are they employed directly by the Rays and would just now work at Steinbrenner, or does Steinbrenner Field have their own staff so the Trop workers are basically out of a job now?

  7. That is pretty bleak. Looks like something out of a post-apocalyptic catastrophe.

A lot of the damage is stuff you can’t see. Can’t imagine what the mold situation is looking like in there now.

  8. This is just depressing, it may not have been the best stadium or even close to it but it was our stadium. Seeing it like this and knowing Rays baseball is likely done in the Bay Area is just sad. What a fall from grace starting with the Franco situation to this.

  9. So sorry Rays bros. I feel for all of The Trop employees. PT or not, it helped folks pay bills. A building might be replaced, but people are irreplaceable.

I am also happy that the flappy mascots were rehoused. I hope that everyone can be reunited at a new Rays park.

I saw The A’s move and that broke me. I don’t want to see it again

  10. Can’t imagine what it feels like for a Rays fan. I know everyone considers the Trop a hole, but your team’s stadium is Your Team’s Stadium, there’s always *some* love there

  11. It’s still so jarring to see natural light on the field, and the sky from field level, in these pics.

I saw my first ever ballgames here… real bummer.

  12. I can see why it’s going to take as long as it will to fix.

That’s extensive damage that all has to be documented.

  13. Was this place still a hurricane shelter during milton?  Or did they end up cancelling that plan?

  14. Okay ignoring the damage that last picture makes me realize that the stadium looks infinitely nicer with some natural light and sky instead of the awful roof
