I hate how much referees neglect their positioning on these higher leagues. We as officials have position that we are taught to keep up safe, when you decide to enter the middle of the ice you open yourself up to this.
This is an incredibly unfortunate play, but these refs need to stop doing this. Stay along the wall.

I would have seen that ref wtf how does a pro have such little awareness. Idk man, hope stripes is good
Someone made an argument the other day about there being too many people on the ice, and that it should just be one ref and TV linesmen. My only argument against it would be how does one man stop a line brawl? But if it prevents stuff like this… I’m starting to be persuaded.
Curious what others think! Hope Dunning’s alright. Hate refs as much as the next Leafs fan, but not enough to enjoy watching them get crumpled like this.
