Through week 11 of the NFL, the 49ers currently have the WORST average target separation in the NFL (3.0) 1. 49ers, 2. Giants, 3. Bengals, 4. Colts, 5. Jaguars, 6. Panthers. Among those 6 teams, only the 49ers and Bengals have a positive EPA/Pass. They also have the 3rd WORST YAC in the NFL

  1. You cant separate abd the coach seem to have eliminated alot of the schemed open plays this year. Not a good recipe for success

  2. Gee it’s almost like the purdy haters are having their arguments blow up right in their stupid faces.

  3. Purdy might be in a similar situation to joe burrow rn both deserve so much better 🙁

  4. I’ve seen this metric a lot, is this more of a “our receivers can’t beat their man” metric or a “kyle isn’t scheming guys open” metric? Or both?

  5. Pretty much zero chance Deebo is back next year at this rate. Great Niner but clearly losing a step, likely from all the hits he’s taken for 6 years. Gotta hope Aiyuk bounces back next year, otherwise this receiving core is in big trouble.

  6. makes you appreciate Brock even more. We are lucky in that regard. it took a while, a long, long while, but we finally got our QB.

  7. This goes beyond an indictment of the wide receivers execution.

I am sad to say (because it is an ominous first in this era), but this is a clear indicator that Kyle’s schematic offense and playcalling is bad this year.

You don’t become the worst in the league at generating separation over one season without a serious degradation in talent AND playcalling.

  8. It’s almost as if defenses know our predictable routes, our receivers aren’t creating separation, and the OL keeps having gaping holes in it or something…

  9. So you’re telling me that Purdue has been playing well with having to thread the needle to get his receivers the ball?

  10. Kyle’s been calling plays and leading this team as if his son died at training camp at the start of this season. That sounds like someone familiar in 2012…

  11. Nature, uh, finds a way. They are blanketing our receivers and keying in on our RB. Kyle will make adjustments. I believe that.

  12. People overrate our weapons in 2024. Everyone is atleast semi washed outside of Jennings and Kittle

  13. I miss Garoppolo on the team solely for Shanahan having to get creative to make up for the limited passing talent.

  14. We need to integrate some speed into the passing game with slick Rick and Cowing to develop them.

We cant just rely on JJ, Kittle and Deebo. We need more variety. JJ and Kittle can play the 1v1 style very well with Kittle being a mismatch hell if an LB is lined up on him. Deebo, well, he’s still decent if you can get him in stride in the open field, but the running stuff is cooked. that’s not effective at all anymore… but that’s 3 WRs and none are that speedy deep threat style that you have to play honest on.

We need that deep threat, that speedy slot guy. We have 2 WRs who should be able to fill that roll to some degree, but they seem to not be involved in the game plan at all.

  15. 1. Our best WR last year tore his ACL

    2. Deebo has regressed immensely since 2021

    3. Jauan Jennings, our best and most available WR this year, isn’t much of a separation artist

    4. Our elite receiving RB missed the first 8 games

    5. Our hall of fame tight end has missed time

    6. Our 1st round WR got shot in the chest and missed the first 7 games

  16. Is Deebo injured or just losing a step? He did not get open AT ALL on sunday. Having a rough year stat wise. I thought Pearsall would have a big day as he is the only remaining guy with some real separation ability with Kittle/Ayuik out. But no, just needed Juaun to bail us out over and over again. I hope we sign him to a lifetime contract. I love you Juaun.

  17. Time to go back to the play book from last year. I don’t even care anymore. Whatever Kyle has been trying to do this year with long developing plays down field just isn’t sustainable. If he is unable to do both at the same time, I would rather just them just do what they did last year.

  18. Team needs an offensive coordinator. Kyle’s in game decision making is so bad it’s offensive.

  19. The best quarter they had this season was the 3rd quarter against Dallas where they threw shorter.

  20. Shanny has to start scheming up plays for Kittle and JJ and see how far it takes them. Trying to include Deebo on key plays is a losing proposition at this point.
