Was this fanbase in the wrong for expecting more out of a 40 yr old QB?

  1. How are we “wrong” for anything? The worthless HC and GM kept scolding us in the offseason that “we are good at our jobs! Rodgers is the answer to everything”. Not to mention the media and all the hype they sent over.

I refuse to blame a single fan for anything, period. Too optimistic? Too pessimistic? It’s irrelevant

  2. The 40 yo QB also snapped his Achilles in his first game here and in the second Season didnt even make it 3 Games without getting injured again.

He’s playing badly but there is more to it than just his age.

  3. The fan base’s expectations ultimately don’t matter.

Was the franchise wrong? The ownership? The front office?

    Clearly they were.

  4. Yes. Nobody wanted to fucking listen. “Oooh, Aaron Rodgers means Super Bowl blah blah blah!” Fuckers.

  5. I was expecting them to play like a team and not a group of 50 individuals. That is not expecting too much of fucking anything for a professional sports team. Shit, it’s not expecting too much of a JV high school team yet here we are.

  6. And who just lost a season due to injury.

This whole season feels like the Tyson fight. Everything in our brains tells us that at certain ages skills diminish but there’s a part of us that’s still like “but maybe….”

People look at Brady and think he’s the norm. He’s an anomaly on aging and even he regressed towards the end. Rodgers is done. Finished. He’s not getting better. It’s time to move on. Should have never gotten him tbh but hindsight is 20/20.

  7. Just want to remind you that a lot of us were trying to point out that this wasn’t really the wisest decision three years ago and you’d downvote us, call us trolls and say we didn’t understand football.

  8. This dumb organization paid a premium for him and decided to pay him for 3 years. So it’s not surprising fans had high expectations. The franchise tried to sell us on him being the missing piece on a championship team. And we’re worse than we were with Zach Wilson.

  9. If you told us before the season there would be a record held by Namath and Rodgers we’d have all signed up to that shit

  10. Of course they were since anyone with a clue knew he should have retired after the 2022 season when he was starting to become washed in his final year in GB. Thing is though is it’s a loser franchise from the front office on down and with a loser fanbase. That he actually wanted to come to this loser team and play for its loser fanbase in a loser U.S. state is remarkable.

The problem is that Brady and to a slightly lesser extent Brees doing well at 40+ has made clueless fans (especially clueless loser Jets fans) have unrealistic expectations of QBs that hit that age and keep playing. They’re the only two QBs that hit age 40 and were able to still be good for multiple seasons. Favre did have a great year at 40 but then sucked it in his final season at 41. Warren Moon could maybe be argued at having a decent season at 41. Outside of this, QBs at 40+ have stank because most QBs have been washed before or at the age of 39, exactly when Rodgers hit the wall….and the wall comes fast for QBs. It’s not a gradual decline that takes multiple seasons and former QBs have stated this.

Anyone who has actually reached their 40s knows what happens to the body. Throw in the fact football is a violent sport that is quite hard on the body and it just makes this reality worse.

If Rodgers has any sense, he’ll finally accept the reality that he is washed and will retire in January, just as he should have last year and saved himself this drama and horrible finish to his career. If by chance he still doesn’t accept this reality then he sure as hell should try his best to get out of this loser franchise and not have to deal with the loser fanbase and loser media who keep acting like he’s in his early-mid 30s and just sucking it up rather than grasping he’s old and simply washed.

  11. The faliure of this season is on the GM and ownership. Saleh and Keith Carter should have been fired last season, JFM should not have been traded, and Huff should have been tagged.

Rodgers is playing fine given the circumstances, he’s just not good enough to overcome a poorly coached OL and a defense filled with JAGs and bums.

  12. I don’t personally know anyone that was expecting us to land anything close to MVP level Rodgers and thought our expectations of him were fairly grounded in reality. Even with the achilles tear and drop in mobility he still shouldn’t be this bad, it’s not like hes experienced some crazy drop in ball velocity post injury.

Him constantly try to throw back shoulder passes to guys he clearly doesn’t have that innate chemistry with, him being late to line up and being against the clock constantly, him not being on the same page when he’s going hot… to me these aren’t issues that are age related. I almost feel like per game were seeing more errant passes with Rodgers than we did with Zach which just blows my mind. I know he’s always been the type to bail on fundamentals at times and get sloppy, but he can’t overcome poor fundamentals like he use to and at his experience level he should be aware of that and stop doing that BS when he has a clean pocket. The amount of delay of game penalties, especially in crucial situations is insane… like wtf are you doing motioning a guy when there is 3 seconds left on the play clock.

All things being equal, he can still very much throw the ball well… but he is just wildly out of sync with the WR room and is not getting the O lined up like a vet of his experience should. And he just isn’t that caliber of player anymore that he can overcome shooting himself in the foot constantly.

  13. Rodgers isn’t helping, and maybe we were all wrong to expect more – but the Jets issues are far from just #8.

This team should have been built to win with a game manager like performances from the QB – and that’s kind of what we’re getting. And it’s not even close.

  14. I didn’t think they would win the superbowl but I did expect like a 10-7 wild card weekend exit.

Every year there is 1 or 2 bad teams in the playoffs not too much for us to be that team

  15. Not sure what the majority of the fan base expected, but I am on record as never wanting him here for two reasons. One is he was too old. There is a reason Tom Brady is the only QB who has had any real success after 40. And the other is Rodgers is a tremendous douche.

  16. I personally never bought into it, been a fan of this team for too long to know these things don’t work out for the Jets. It’s not a serious organization.

  17. Rodgers is on pace for one of the best seasons as a QB in jets history.

Was i expecting us to be 3-8? No. I also don’t think anyone was expecting our defense to be one of the most laughable units in the league.

Lot more people to place blame before Rodgers imo

  18. They will be horrific until woody and his brother die or sell. They’re the Wilpons of the NFL.

  19. We just expected it to work. On paper, a lot of it looked great. But the team makes mistakes all game long, so it’s hard to win a lot of games like that.

  20. Not sure if fan base is wrong or right. “The mob is fickle Brother”. But I know who is wrong for putting The Jets Franchise in this situation and it’s Woodie Johnson. You can blame the coaches the GM the players but at the end Woodie has his fingers on all of it. The record doesn’t lie. It took Dolan of the Knicks/Rangers over 20 years to realize that he needed to let the sports people run the sports department. Woodie is still driving the stretch Escalade limo when he should let the chauffeur drive it. This franchise will never win with Woodie.

  21. I knew this situation was cursed when when the Jets had Rodgers who says 9/11 was fake, ran out on opening night 9/11 last year with a USA flag like he is some kind of patriot.

  22. Rodgers hasn’t been playing great but only a few games have truly been on the offense I feel, the defense is playing like shit.

  23. I was so tired of the criticism of Wilson last season behind a 2nd rate OL, loss of Hall and others. Everything would have been better if Rogers was healthy last year nonsense. Now yet another first round quarterback is gone and we have a 40 year old quarterback and a 3-7 record with an easy schedule.

    Anyone seen Reddick??

  24. literally not the same guy from the first four weeks. I didnt expect an MVP but I expected Kirk Cousins in December numbers. At least a Mr.Reliable on the offense that could keep up us a float while the defense cooked. My expectations were that I would be watching in December with a chance at playoffs fighting for a spot
