Why did I do it? Simple. $30 bucks vs $100+, figured it was worth the chance. I already have an authentic Beniers Home so I went with Montour away.

Delivery – it took about a month, as advertised

Material – it's a little abrasive and not as silky as the authentic, but over a hoodie that won't matter I suppose. Plenty of loose threads and small discoloration here and there. Color palate though seems to be accurate enough to not give it a second look.

Size/fitting – I ordered a 52/L, and let me tell you this thing is way too big 😅, torso wise it's fine, but the arms/sleeves are enormous. Hands by my side, the sleeves go another 8in-10in down, I will definitely have to do some janky stuff for this to actually be passable to wear

Authenticity and Quality – obviously, it's not authentic nor of excellent quality. The inaugural season patch doesn't belong at all and kind of looks like an image scan. The front logo is smaller than an authentic but not as small as it seems in the picture, it's passable. The numbers on the back are probably the best feature, and while the name does look and feel like a real patch, it's very sloppy and stitching is uneven. The worst part is the black lining in the collar that is just gone on the right side 🤣. But it'll be hidden when worn so I can live with it.

Overall, am I happy with it? I won't say yes, but I'm not upset either. I can understand buying a knock off vs an authentic and putting up with the issues. My only advice would be to order a size smaller than you think you'd need but it's possible it's inconsistent jersey to jersey.

  1. Like someone else said, it’s good you’re not upset. Aside from the things you’ve already said, the colors don’t look right. Also a pretty dead giveaway having an inaugural season patch on a Montour jersey. 😬

  2. Not gonna fault ya for trying it out with the costs and everything! I have a third party Shawn Kemp 90s throwback Sonics thats a little flimsy, but the cost evened it out compared to official jerseys. Thanks for sharing the details for the curious

  3. I’m always fascinated at how many people by their junk. You could have just posted that picture with no words and it’s instantly recognizable as fake. They get almost nothing even close to right.

  4. Would have been better over in r/dhgatejerseys… I’ve posted my fakes there.

Kraken have some of the worst fakes out there. Front crest is too small… The patches and Adidas bubble… And they do “Navy” instead of “Deep Sea Blue”.

The away ones are slightly more passable due to the “DSB” issue, but the front crest is a dead giveaway.

But, I’ve said it so many times… $40 for a fake versus $40 in the team store for a screen printed t-shirt with the logo on the front and the name/number on the back? I’ll take a Dhgate fake….

Only if you’re not standing next to someone with a real jersey.  These things stick out like a sore thumb around CPA.

Seems like you got your money’s worth, though.

  6. Regardless of the fake which is really bad Montour didn’t play for the inaugural team so this is a jersey foul on multiple levels

  7. I can’t fault people for getting one but the kraken fakes have always looked so terrible to me. The colors are always off, logo looks off, font on the names nameplate are wrong, and the type of jersey that is being replicated the kraken never even wore.

  8. That’s awful but it was cheap. I did this when Reebok was the maker and had that hideous grey patch on the jerseys. Bought about 6 different players. Tavares islanders and seguin stars were really good all other ones were throw aways.

  9. Ordered a custom winter classic from UJersey. Should be here this week. Excited to see the outcome. But I’m sure anything is better than paying $300 like a real winter classic is right now.
