Why though? Trust in him because of valid reasons not because our former captain who’s loosely related to the franchise (in an employment sense) says I trust him.
Trust him because you think ASP and Cossa are the truth and future stars. Trust him because you think Danielson has legit 2C upside. Trust him because Nygard is going to inject scoring and size into the top six.
It’s clear Yzerman has somewhat of a knack for 1st round picks, which I’d argue is the *most important* part of a rebuild. However, he’s left a lot to be desired in terms of coaching hires, pro scouting/roster evaluation, trades, free agent signings, cap management, and drafting outside of the 1st round.
Legit if he missed his on evaluation of Seider after the reach at 6, Stevie might not have a job. Because without that there’s not a lot we can point to him and say this was good GMing.
