  1. dang, surprised this “team meeting” wasnt on zoom at this point

he probably did force their hand but idk about the strategy of lets put your franchise player on full blast in public

  2. The franchise has been dealing with Joel’s immaturity for years. What we’re seeing now is the straw that broke the camel’s back.

  3. When keeping it real gets real. We will see if keeping it real goes wrong! This season is already such a roller coaster.

  4. While I agree that the team has been ass with or without Embiid, I think Maxey is really saying Embiid needs to be a better leader no matter if he is playing or not.

When Embiid is getting mopey on the court, we look awful. The team feeds off the energy of their best player and it has been hard if Embiid is acting in anyway like he is above simple things like meetings, shoot arounds, practice or games. We can tell from social meeting that Embiid is not the most present player that we have. This current team just feels like bad vibes all around

  5. Pretty damning that a 24 year old has to talk to a 30 year old in their 10th season about his professionalism.

It’s one thing to criticise Tyrese for his on court play and his lack of success without Joel on the court but the fact that Joel needs Tyrese to get on his ass to show up for things on time is unacceptable.

  6. tmz gonna drop a video at this rate. emvsrassing ball club cant even keep a meeting under wraps for 24 hours

  7. For too long, a majority of fans and the Philly radio stations have confused Embiid “trying hard”, “playing amazingly” and “fighting through injury” with “Leadership.” Embiid is not a real leader, and unfortunately it took a decade for this truth to be widely accepted.

  8. I’d rather them have the hard blunt conversations compared to just going with it all, not saying anything and not accomplish anything

  9. This all sucks to read.. but I’m glad Maxey is speaking up. He puts in way too much work to be held back by bad habits and laziness.

  10. It’s almost like the incredible resentment every Sixers beat reporter seems to have towards him is rooted in some underlying cause…

  11. If we want to make playoffs, this is what’s needed. Constrictive criticism. Maxey is such a great asset.

  12. It’s how you respond to someone validly calling you that shows character. Embiid will either fall apart like Simmons or actually become a better teammate. Next couple of weeks will make or break Embiid’s career

  13. Man, security on this leads me to believe they are not operating as a team off the court either.

It really sounds like the core is rotten.

Who knows though. Maybe this brings them together.

  14. Maxey at the meeting: I don’t write nothin’ down, so I’ll keep this short and sweet. You’re weak. You’re outta control. And you’ve become an embarrassment to yourself and everybody else

  15. I had Sixers fans arguing with me today that this story was just the media spinning it crazy hilarious

  16. We’ve been thinking “Joel is gonna want to be traded out of Philly eventually” after all the bullshit he’s been through with this franchise. Starting to think this is the season, and I’m fine with it

  17. You guys who are so irate at the meeting getting leaked just don’t get it. It was leaked so everyone knows the meeting happened. And letting everyone know what a fuck up Embiid is right now. They did it to shame his lazy ass to actually do his job. And now he better so everyone knows whose fault it is

  18. Holy fuck

The sixers are really a tv show.

So this is the next evolution of the NBA. How long until the finals is truly written and scripted

  19. I love that Maxey stepped up like this, but why did he have to. If Jojo is late and disinterested, this is a Nurse issue, and he needs to get in Embiids’ face and let him know it isn’t acceptable and that it needs to change now.
