  1. At this point scrub the season and go for a top pick. We aren't going to get anywhere worth going this year. Sell goaltenders at deadline and build for two years from now.

  2. You're right though. Whatever new coach you bring in you have to look to see if they'll work with the amount of young guys that'll be coming up in the next 1-3yrs. Is that Joel?

  3. Boring, uninspired hockey. They do nothing on offense. No creativity, no one can finish. No play makers. No chemistry. We get extremely low shot volume. Can someone tell me what compher or veleno do for this team? I won't even get into gustafson, petry, chairot

  4. Good podcast šŸ‘
    Your right on target
Its obvious its not a talent problem. It looks entirely a motivation problem from coaching. If anyone could remember he said some things last year just before not making the playoffs and after that had me thinking this guy may not be right for this job.Very uninspiring comments
Now with this pathetic loss to the sharks i am sure more people will be thinking the same

  5. Loooooooooooooooooooooong season ahead. The veterans on the roster making themselves untrade-able playing this bad is an added insult to injury. Gonna make rebuilding the rebuild really difficult.
There isn't even a generational or positionally relevant top 5 pick in the pool in the coming draft. Pull the pin and roll it into the locker room at this point.

  6. First let me say I actually don't expect anything from the team truly until Abdelkader"s money is off the books. To me that's when the rebuild should be done and the team should be "good".

That said I would like to see them actually play the games and look like they at least belong in the league. This weird team strategy of no offence, no defence, no shots, no PK is so hard to watch.

So seeing as I think the team is still a year or two away from finishing the rebuild, if they don't fire Lalonde we draft high and continue to build a good prospect pool. I do like the prospects a lot. If they do fire him, the games become more watchable even though playoffs are rather unlikely regardless.
Either course should be in place by the end of NOV in my mind

  7. I've lived between Pittsburgh and Cleveland all my life. Not proud, just stating it. šŸ™‚ I've watched the Browns churn through 30+ coaches, languishing to be even mediocre most of the time, while the Steelers have had 3 coaches in my 51 years and enormous success.

If Steve has changed his mind about the efficacy of the system or about how he evaluated the ability of the coaching staff (all of whom were hired for a reason to begin with), then a change makes sense. But if we presume that the system can work (I do), and that the people hired can do the job (I do), let's please remember the value of coaching stability. It is valuable. Burning it down every 3 years gets you nowhere but Cleveland.

And you don't want to be there.

  8. Iā€™m a fan of the wings and all around hockey fan period but this team really shouldnā€™t be this bad. It seems the only forward out there who can produce is Larkin and the goaltending has really been the only bright spot so far. Maybe a coaching change is needed to get something going before itā€™s too late.

  9. The only ones going home crying were the Red Wings. If Lalonde isnā€™t fired Stevie needs to go with him. His leash needs to be retracted. He doesnā€™t seem to learn from previous mistakes in free agency. Itā€™s concerning what he will do with cap space given his previous work in free agency. My guess is he will go for bigger targets and not fill a gap guys. Thereā€™s a lot of long term contracts that were signed that Iā€™m glad Stevie didnā€™t get saddled with but he has butchered the defence and has no 2C unless Kasper can be that guy. Then he has a 5 million dollar 4C.

  10. Kind of pisses me off that none of these podcast dudes want to openly state that Quenneville ignored a player who reported that the video coach had sexually assaulted him.

  11. Long drawn out contract negotiations for millions of dollars and they can't find the inspiration to follow the game plan. I don't think it's the coach's fault
