sherwood’s shot is a lot better than i expected, he can finish on a lot of petey’s passes which is refreshing to see
Petey has always worked best with a right handed skilled winger. If you get into his fancy stats with a guy in that mould vs without it becomes noticeable.
The goal last night was a perfect example of how a righty plays in that line. Strong forehand pass to a player who can take it on his forehand and do something with the puck. You can see other zone entries where a forehand to forehand pass made it so easy for them. Putting Hoglander or Mikheyev or Suter there always made the zone entries goofy because they’re catching that pass on their backhand and if it isn’t clean the defender would pressure.
I don’t know how much skill Suregood has for a full year (there was a week stretch last year where Lafferty looked like a top 6 guy) but if he can be a proper 45 point guy with overflowing kavorka then he’s going to have a spot in Canucks folklore.
West coast express 2.0?
This line has been our best the last few games but hoping JDB can get hot again too. I know it’s only November but he’s known to level up in big moments and with Miller and Boeser out, we could really use that from him
Hopefully this is Burrows 2.0
So basically Petey’s PDG who actually scores… I love it when we turn an otherwise nobody into a good player because they put in the work to play good hockey.
