The rangers are currently in the WC1 position, yet they’re ranked above all 3 of the top three teams in the Atlantic. Rangers, devs, canes, and caps are all in the top 6 leaguewide.

Hmm.. looks like they will just have to keep winning.
Not to mention the games we have in hand on Washington and the Devils
I am constantly annoyed that standings are done using total points instead of points%…there should at least be an option to switch
Metro looking to be a bloodbath this year. Boy oh boy they’re gonna make these guys WORK for back to back ECF appearances
Tight race at the top. Once the games played catches up to the Devils, it’s looking like the Rangers will be in the hunt for the top 3.
After the miserable showing last year by the Capitals, I’m very surprised to see them doing as well as they are. And kudos to Brind A’mour with all the turnover from last season keeping that team competitive. He’s earning his new contract for sure
It’s a long season. I’m not overly concerned with where we’re at in November, especially since we’ve got 4 games in hand over the debbies.
We’ve played the least games tho.
Isles are 5 games under .500 and in a playoff spot. The bottom half of this conference needs to step it up.
Too early in the season for this
I’ve heard hockey people suggest this; have the Top 4 teams in each conference choose who they wanna play in Round 1. It’ll piss off some of the lower seeded teams and make for some interesting hockey.
Top Seed chooses first
Second Seed chooses next
Third Seed chooses third
Fourth Seed gets whoever remains
Strategy involved because maybe the Top Seed feels they match up best against the Seven Seed. Or maybe the Third Seed purposely chooses a team so that the Fourth Seed has to play a team they wanna avoid regardless of standings.
Sort by win percentage. We just haven’t played as many games so our point total is low
bring back 1 vs 8! – Everyone
We’ll be first in a week
Devils have played 4 or 5 more games than we did yet they only have 1 more point.
Devils have 4 games in hand and lost all of them.
Division winners get the #1 and #2 seeds. The other 6 teams are seeded based on their records, no matter the division. It makes winning the division mean something (maybe not much, i know). There may be the occasional year where a #2 in a division has a better record than the #1 in the other division, but no system is perfect (see the NFL for these scenarios).
Caps will come back down to earth, especially with ovi out and debs will do what they do best and just completely collapse. Carolina however is looking really good but Necas and Roslovic are not going to keep up these point and goal paces all season. We’ve got plenty of time to take the division
It’s been 17 games.
Bro this is hyperbole and way too early. A lot of games left to be calling this insane
Dont forget that they have not played as many games as most of the other teams
Yeah cuz the devils have played 100 games this year lol. They’re much improved from last year but all in they’re 12-9 right now. If we keep winning games we’ll easily pass them.
Devils have 4 games ahead of everyone so people will catch up. Washington will fall to earth.
Reminds me of that insanely stacked 2016-17 metro where the rangers cbj pens and caps ran a train on the nhl.
It’s November. Stop crying. Win more games and move on. It will sort itself out over time.
The devils with their GP are suspicious 3rd seeding
I can’t wait for the day this playoff system is gone. I hate it
The NHL has the worst playoff bracket in professional sports. There is virtually no difference if the rangers finish 1st or 4th in the metro.
There’s like, 65 games left to play.
I’m so sick of the division playoff format, first, exactly for this reason. But also because I’m sick of playing the same fucking three teams in the playoffs over and over.
Rangers only have 17 games played. Nothing to worry about
I always look at point percentage not actual points to see what rank in the league teams are. We are well ahead of the devils they have just played more

The NHL needs to adopt the 1-8 playoff format.
