  1. I wouldn't even be surprised if Detroit finishes dead last this year. Yes Montreal is going to pass them. Buffalo, Ottawa, Montreal, San Jose, Anaheim and Chicago will all make the playoffs before Detroit.

  2. Stars? The only star was Kane! Detroit can trade their way outta this! The Yzerman plan in year 6 isn't where we as fans want it! We have pieces in the minors and picks if Yzermans willing to.. could change detroit quick!! Buffalo and Montreal better lol that's a horrible take this guy's an idiot and probably an Yzerman hater# Lgrw

  3. Detroit went old and I thought they were going to sneak into the last playoff spot this year. They might have missed that opportunity. If they don't make it this year they probably suffer some die back.
I hope Montreal moves past detroit in the next couple years.

  4. This is misguided – Grand Rapids is stocked with players that are close to NHL ready – and they are tearing it up . Detroit is woeful at a couple positions – 2nd pair Defense and Center -that is all – they fill out with 3 or 4 good players in those spots and it is a whole different deal .

  5. This is how elite each of those teams to make the change for playoff greatness since 2015-16' since alot of 'smart' wings fans like to use 10 years as a the metric for the rebuild even through Holland never had any intention of doing anything helpful for a proper rebuild. This year being the 10th year. All people will do is complain, but none of these similarly rebuilt teams has been good for a long time. It took the Avs 5 years after the CBA lockout to be consistent playoff contenders until they won the cup in 2022 in 9 years of time. Idk why any one of those 4 fanbases would be bragging right now cuz they are all still bad. I just wish people would get off the pot about it "taking too long."

Buffalo- 0 out of 9 years
Detroit- 1 out of 9 years (their last playoff appearance)
Montreal- 2 out of 9 years
Ottawa- 2 out of 9 years.

  6. Fire Lalonde. Make a splash in 2025 free agency. Hopefully a strong puck moving defender. And playoffs 2025. Mainly because Husso and Holl are gone for sure. That’s 7 mil. Not including other possible trade offs. Just that 7 mil alone will get that defenseman. I bet asp at least will be on the ahl roster. Able to be brought up at a phone call.

  7. Seravalli makes some sense. "Die Hard" Red Wings fans point to the fact "the Wings are only 3 points behind for a playoff spot" and while true today, as the Wings lost 8 of the last 11 games, that course puts Detroit nothing better than 48-51 points at the end of April. Other teams are making changes, while Detroit sits stagnate. Steve is a great GM, but he's trying to build a Jon Cooper team with a Jeff Blashill coaching style. Detroit needs a fiery leader like Joel Quenville or the equivalent, someone to light the burners under these good players, and to sit the slugs till they feel the heat, or ask to be let go.

  8. Petry, Kane, Husso, Lyon, Motte, Berggren, and Fischer all free agents totaling $18,650,000. We also have a few guys at Grand Rapids who will be free agents at the end of the year. Question is, who do you go after and how much do you want to spend? A lot of FA's next summer are mid 30's only a few really talented guys (Marner ex.) i believe is going to be 28 or 29 next year. Do you want to pay him $10 million or more? I'd rather see guys like Lombardi and Danielson make the team. Cheaper and give them a chance to learn, because this team is going nowhere, so let them get their feet wet. Also get a coach. Lalonde sucks. I went through the Ned Harkness era and he's Harkness 2.0 IMO.

  9. Pay their way out with big name free agents? Lmao the most money any FA has got was like 6 and that was Tarasenko this year. Steve hired a base level NHL team so the kids didnt have to carry an NHL team in their first years. They signed like 1-2 FAs every year and all get Middle six contracts. The kids are still working their way up and look like theyre thriving. It takes time when you dont have any lottery luck, why is this a hard concept for so many people.
