  1. and with that, Shohei joins Frank Robinson as the only two players to have won MVPs in both leagues. incredible company, as always!

  2. Ok where was that guy in the beginning of the season said Ohtani wasn’t worth that much money and Dodgers would be better off keeping JD Martinez and bringing in a few 200-300m players?

  3. Surprised at the unanimous, assumed there would be some “west coast bias” voters but damn. Congrats to Shohei ofc, deserved. 9 more left now…

  4. Watching it on MLB Network, and Decoy hauling ass after the announcement due to the noise was funny, as was Ohtani’s reaction.

  5. At this point, we should give a unanimous MVP their own award. Maybe call it the Shohei Ohtani Award. (If Ohtani some how wins more MVPs than Bonds, just rename the entire award after him)

  6. A post a year ago:

    >**There have been over 200 MVP awards handed out in MLB history. Only 21 were unanimous MVPs, and Shohei Ohtani is the only player to do so twice.**

    Make that 3 baby!

  7. I agree with ohtani being unanimously #1, but I also think lindor should’ve received every second place vote. (Yes I’m biased idc)

  8. If this dude makes a full return to elite pitcher status he’s gonna finish with a few more of these. Crazy run—I’d be surprised if he sustained this long enough to rack up massive counting stat totals, but he’s on the very shortlist for one of the most dominant peaks we’ve seen.

  9. Winning the MVP at the DH position for the first time in history, while doing it unanimously is insane!

No one has even had more than 1 unanimous MVP in their career, and Shohei now has 3. And this was his age 29 season…

  10. Considering how the season started for him and some people were doubting him and calling him a criminal at the beginning of the season, this is an unbelievably incredible accomplishment for him.

  11. Deserved but my +3500 bet on Lindor to win MVP was such good value…curse you Ohtani and enjoy your MVP in 2025 too

  12. Friendly reminder that in 2022, MLB fed Aaron Judge and the Yankees juiced baseballs. This should be Ohtani’s 4th MVP

  13. **Ohtani’s most impressive Records with the Dodgers:**

    – Set the franchise record for most home runs in a single season with 54 home runs
    – Achieved a 9.2 Offensive bWAR, the highest in Dodgers’ history, surpassing Mike Piazza’s 9.0 mark in 1997
    – Holds the franchise record for most RBIs in a single game with 10 RBIs (in the game he went 6-for-6 with 3 home runs, 5 XBH and 2 stolen bases)
    – Most XBH by a LA Dodger (99)
    – Recorded 10 straight games with an RBI
    – 411 total bases, setting a LA Dodgers record, surpassing Adrián Beltré’s 376 total bases in 2004
    – Hit the most home runs in a single season at Dodgers’ home games with 28 home runs
    – Achieved a 190 OPS+, the highest in a qualified season in Dodgers history, surpassing Mike Piazza’s 185 OPS+ in 1997
    – Set a Dodgers record with 134 runs scored, leading the majors in this category
    – Posted a .646 slugging percentage, leading the NL and setting a new Dodgers record, surpassing Gary Sheffield’s .643 mark in 2000
    – Led the Dodgers in all offensive categories in a single season

    Well deserved unanimous MVP!!!
