Montreal Canadiens Juraj Slafkovsky at centre? Emil Heineman impresses? And more in our Habs mailbag

Montreal Canadiens winger Juraj Slafkovksy was seen practicing face-offs with Marc Bureau on Thursday, which prompts the question: are the Habs planning to try him at centre? Or is there something more logical at play? In our second segment, we begin our weekly mailbag, wherein we talk about Emil Heineman’s underlying numbers and it turns out, he is more impressive than we think. Finally, in our last segment, we talk about what would make this Habs season a success and whether the Canadiens should embrace the tank.

  1. I think Heineman should stay in the line-up over RHP. Last year we only had the first line that had a factor in most games. This year our 3rd line and 4th line is contributing. Heineman has been a big reason that the 4th line is contributing. RHP is coming off a disappointing year last year. So RHP should sit until someone plays their way out of the line-up.

  2. If the Habs have a top 5 pick then you need to keep the pick. The top 50 is very strong but particularly the top 5. We could draft a legitimate top 2C which the Habs desperately need. At this point, Kirby Dach is still a question mark. We still need top 6 talent. First round pick within the top 5 would be able to play within 2 years minimum. We would deeply regret trading our 1st round pick next year.

  3. Heineman is twice the player RHP is! He is twice his size, he hits everything, he has an elite shot and he was a way higher draft pick…. RHP brings absolutely nothing other than being French…..

  4. I don't remember the game, but start of 2002 season would mean probability is about 75% Jose Theodore, 25% Hackett. However, the game being on the road, probability is closer to 50/50. Plus, if you are asking as trivia, it probably goes against the expected, so I would say Jeff Hackett.

  5. Heineman is 100% better right now than RHP especially on a 4th line. If RHP was not a french player from Quebec he would not even be in the discussion.
