Revisionism? Buffalo wings where invented at Anchor Bar by Teressa Bellissimo
As a long standing fan who visited Buffalo and went to his first game ever this past October (Titans game), the mighty wing comes in second place to the Beef on Weck.
Thanks for posting this, I’ve been wanting to rewatch this episode for some time now. I’ve only been in WNY for about a decade now but I found the extra history of the city featured in this episode very informative
This pops up every once in a while and the “Actually” folks need to stop trying to make “Fetch” happen. The sauce is what made the wing, even til this day if you walk into a restaurant with the intent of ordering a salad that all changes when you smell fresh wings with traditional sauce. We’ve been frying food for thousands of years and John Young was just one of many who fried chicken, but happened to be in Buffalo and used a sauce that was a spin on something he had when he was younger. So congrats to him for being the millionth person to fry chicken, but he’s not the inventor of the Buffalo Wing.
