This consistently LeBron’s stance on close losses
I gotta disagree with that were there plays u couldve made earlier to close it sure but what lost u the game in the moment was ft shooting 2 of 8 in the final 3 minutes inexcusable
Just don’t give the ball to AD (or even LeBron) when it’s a free throw game. He’s a proven choker at the line. Lots of games were thrown just because of that.
He’s right. There are days when our shit players can hide in the brilliance of AD, James, or Reaves/Knecht as they ride them to a win. Other days it is magnified. Our bench is nonexistent.
Mo Wagner played 18 mins and scored more than our bench combined. That’s fuckin unacceptable
The missed FTs taking the heat off the 2 airballed 3s from DLo and his terrible efficiency this season so far.
It was a game decided by 1 point. So I can point to anything that made a difference of 1 point
Yes I can. Take some accountability.
He’s right and he’s not really saying this to defend himself since AD and Reaves missed more free throws down the stretch. The game should not have been this close to begin (hella respect for Wagner tho, he’s for real).
I’m not nervous because we’ve shown that we can beat good teams when we started the season, but more consistency is needed. I’m optimistic that as the season goes on JJ will gain more experience and will help this team play at a consistent level instead of playing up or down to their opponent.
The final seconds if your team were not able to hold it for the first 36 or more minutes, it will really go down to the wire. And for this game, it was down to the free throws. AR missed FT, Bron missed one FT to lead up 4. AD missed to lead two possessions again. So at this point, it went down to the free throws and that would be where the focus is because it was supposed to close the game. So, the free throws was not just the point of emphasis. It could have been OT if a better play was made that an AD fadeaway. Or it could have been a win if a three point play was well-organized. But, game is over on to the next one. I hope the JJ finds a way to fix the way the team closes the games while in the lead.
Okay, let’s point to the rebounds AND freethrows.
Perimeter defense is how you say….sucks
It’s so apparent that they need more work to improve their defense. Some of our wins should be won with a high deficit. It’s just frustrating to see our guys just playing around and have a lack of discipline.
He had two turnovers that a 7th grader makes and were embarrassing. I’m not sure why he makes such lazy passes sometimes. His full court toss to AD was epic tho.
If we’re even thinking of being a bare-minimum contender, then that perimeter defense needs tweaking because the current contenders are gonna smoke us
Our “defensive specialist” Cam Reddish didn’t pressure the ball at the 3pt line and let him get a shot off. 💀
We needed 41 points on 14/22 from the field and 12/13 from the free throws line from AD in order to win against the Magic missing their best player and 2 other starters. It’s incredibly reductionist to say AD lost us the game just because fans are unable to see what impacts wins and losses beyond the literal final plays.
Yes you literally can. The game could have been won and put away but was lost because the two leaders of the team can’t make FTs at the end of a game. Make your FTs at the end of the game with a 3-4 point lead equals a win. Plain and simple
Nah…. Kobe would say the missed dumb free throws.
Aside from other things that could’ve been better, sure. But it was the freethrows at the end.
The missed free throws coming late makes them feel really bad , but thats not the only reason we lost
You know… In this case, I disagree with LeBron.
Sure… We’d rather have had a bigger lead against a team that’s not that good, but that’s not how basketball works. We had like 3 chances to put the game away in the end by 3 different players: AD, LeBron, and AR. All 3 fucked it up. If you’re going to do that, that’s actually the reason for the loss.
That’s not true at all. It was a close game and in the clutch they lost. They didn’t make buckets they needed. The game was definitely lost at the end when they didn’t make free throws lol
“You can and I will.”
Our perimeter defense is just beyond terrible. Magic got so many open looks from 3, they’re not a good shooting team but give any player multiple open looks at the rim…they’re bound to go in.
We have no margin for error on offense because our defense is just pathetic.
That’s true but I just thought we were better than that 😢
He’s right, but at the same time I have to disagree. It doesn’t matter if you win by 1 point or 100 points. At the end of the day, it’s either a win or a loss. Either a checkmark in the dub column or the loss column. You can play the most perfect, best basketball for 47 minutes, but if you shit the bed in the last minute or in the last possession, none of it matters.
Free throws should be free. We should not be missing free throws, especially when you’ve already taken 10 of them in game. By that point, you already have the in game reps and should have a rhythm. I would understand if it were his first free throws, but to be in the 4th quarter in a 1 possession game, you HAVE to hit those. The game could’ve been won in that moment. But we didn’t.
Yeah, we could’ve played better, had better defense, drawn up better plays, but if you’re a professional basketball player and considered one of the best in the league, you better hit your damn free throws.
Lakers just need more pieces. They will win games with this bunch and may have a winning record but this team as it is can’t win a ring.
So they need to use this loss to realize that because everything the team wins, people over hype. It doesn’t help to overhype
