[Yankees] Today the Yankees non-tendered INF Jon Berti and LHP Tim Mayza. Additionally, the Yankees have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with RHP JT Brubaker and OF Trent Grisham, thus avoiding arbitration.

Nothing about Brubakers statcast page over his career really jumps out at you, but he’s a sinker slider guy so I’m guessing they’re just gonna slightly change his grip and his sinker will tick up 4 mph and get another 6 inches of vertical break
Nothing sexy, but decent pieces
A little surprised they released Berti. It’s not like the team has a ton of ML ready infield depth, unless they’re really that sure Durbin/Peraza are the future.
Bertí seemed like a guy they would keep. Never really got to get a feel for him with the injuries, so moving on makes sense.
A little surprised they held onto Grisham, since he didn’t get any playoff use and they seemed to like others in that spot instead. But maybe they got his $5.7M number down significantly – he’s a good utility OF, just not at that price with our budget constraints.
Surprised to not have nestor news yet
Grisham just had the easiest year of his career
A little surprised on these, but if Brubaker can be a piece this year I’m OK. No strong feelings either way. Berti seemed like a guy to keep, but his injuries last year forced the team to fill out an infield without him.
Probably the first time “Thus” has been used in Yankee twitter history.
