“Last year I didn’t look really engaged or not a lot of energy like I [had] on previous teams. It’s just because I was playing on one leg.

So I want that to be addressed because I know a lot of fans didn’t think I played with a lot of energy and I didn’t want to be here. That’s what I’ve seen on social media. But I do want to be here. I want to play with these guys…

I was literally playing on one leg so it was tough for me mentally – that I couldn’t move the way I wanted to.”

  1. [Bruce Brown on not stopping to evaluate his knee sooner (last season): “We had so many guys out. That’s just not how I’m built. Like if I can go out there and play, I can go out there and play. So if I can push through it- it was tough – [and] obviously it didn’t look good some of the times. I didn’t perform the way I was supposed to.”](https://x.com/savhamilton11/status/1860385755815649774?s=46&t=sbk6yuyliVaFRQjBUBJCMQ)

[I asked Bruce “what can fans expect from you now?” He said: “Just wait and see. I’m ready to hoop.”](https://x.com/savhamilton11/status/1860387036055646522?s=46&t=sbk6yuyliVaFRQjBUBJCMQ)

Will be interesting to see what Brown’s role is. Especially with RJ/Gradey/Ochai all playing very well. I’m guessing he might replace Shead in the rotation so he can be with the 905.

  2. Bruce playing on one leg and Gradey playing on three legs if you know what I mean.

    Amirite guys?

  3. Bruce Brown has definitely been contributing to the vibes at this point and I’m happy to have him on the sidelines in those cowboy fits

  4. He’s engaged as hell on the bench and that’s been nice to see. If he can play his glue game like he did when he came into the league it will fit in great.

And then he’ll If he looks good let’s make that trade w all expected haha

  5. I mean, if brown returns to form, and will take a more reasonable annual value, he might be worth keeping. Those are two big “ifs” though.

  6. I love this guy tbh. He’s been nothing but professional but our fans and media have portraying him as not wanting to be here. He’s the opposite of Dragic

  7. darko needs to get him as many minutes as possible, whether he stays or its a showcase for a trade at the deadline. a valuable asset with proven past performance.

  8. Sucks that he had to address it, but I think most fans have come around to him as far his engagement to the team goes. He VERY clearly has contributed to some locker room culture, so people don’t throw around “he doesn’t want to be here” accusations, anymore.

  9. I’ll just point out, you dont usually hear dudes on 4-12 teams come out and try to mend their inage with a fanbase like this. To me, this indicatds that deapite the very rough start, Darko had managed to keep the locker room very engaged and together. Also Bruce is a stand up guy

  10. He’s been adding to the good vibes so if he’s willing to show hustle I’d happily change my opinion on his play here moving forward

  11. All the hate this man received when he got to Toronto was unjustified. He’s been a fantastic role player on any prior team he’s been on. Raps fans dismissed him so fast and are always looking for a scapegoat.

  12. This was a super nice touch from Bruce coming out with this. It did appear to me he didn’t want to be here last year too. Either way, seems like he’s been great for the locker room this year. Hopefully he balls out and we can get him to a contender at the deadline.

  13. I think he’s still getting traded because he’s on an expiring, but hopefully he can rehab his value in the meantime.

I don’t see us re-signing him with Ochai and Gradey needing minutes
