Say whatever you want about Gruden, but you just have to love how much he loves football. I could listen to him talk shop until the cows came home just because he is so genuinely and passionately a football guy.
One of the best times in my life for sports. Raiders were winning and were fun, lakers were winning titles, SC was in the Pete Carroll years…just a great time.
that superbowlk ended badly, but those years were so great.
loved those Gannon-led Raiders squads. I was like 6-7 around then. Gannon, the Woodsons, the Buchanans, Wheatley, Garner, Rice, Porter, Jolley, Crockett, etc etc the Black Hole was DEEP!🏴☠️
Best Raiders QB in the last 40 years
I miss you coach
Love how fiery Gannon was, gotta go back and watch some of those games
Fuck yeah loved Gannon because he was so goddamn average for everyone else, but so great for the Raiders. Seemed like he completed about 80% of his passes for about a 3 year stretch.
I miss Coach Gruden. He is a Raider through and through.
Back when the Raiders had soul. The black hole was real, and the stadium was rocking. What I would give to have that now..
I was watching the Raiders far longer than most. I remembered Flores as our QB, his trade all the way to todays team. As good of a team, Gruden had!! I wish all of you needed to see the earlier Raiders play. The big arm of Lamonica, The Snake, Blanda, Bo, etc etc!!! Those teams, especially the 70s teams, they would only lose 1 to 3 games a season. Madden will always be the GOAT coach of all the Raiders teams. If it could be possible to see all of those games, you will have the rich history of the Raiders that I have!!! Those teams of the 70’s, the Dolphins, (we knocked them out in their quest to 3 peat), the Steelers, Cowboys, the Vikings!!! The Snake had a winning record on every one of those teams’ QBs!!! Yet he got into the Hall of Fame last!!!! Madden always said The Snake was his man for the job when a game was on the line!!!! I used to never worry what the score was because if we were behind in the 4th quarter. I felt Kenny would pull it off!!!! I’m not knocking your opinions, just saying the teams from the past were just as good as any team from 2000 era!!! Sorry about the length!!! GO RAIDERS!!!
The Gannon era is what made me a young Raiders fan
This the type of shyt we need again
Another reason Dennis Green was the most overrated coach the Vikings have ever had.
My first football memories consist of names like Gannon, Tim Brown, Jerry Porter, Tyrone Wheatley, Charlie Garner, Charles Woodson, Lincoln Kennedy, Greg Biekert….. core memories
Here is what Gruden said after the Raiders signed Gannon (a move some people questioned):
*”He can make all the throws. He can throw the ball deep, short, intermediate. He can scramble. He has great knowledge of the AFC West. He has been a big part of Kansas City’s solid offensive play the last few years, and he’s a great leader.”*
Rich was all that, and more.
Gannon had to be the most unlikely MVP, in his 14th season.
That would be like Minshew winning MVP 8 years from now with the NY Jets.

Those Raiders teams were so much fun to watch.
Threw a better side arm than Mahomes
