I think people are too worried about the back end of a deal with Burns. I think we can all agree he’ll be a great pitcher for 3-4 years. Even if he’s at the level of let’s say what Severino is now in year 5 or 6 of his contract. The 32 mil he’ll get will be equivalent to around what 20 mil is now and guys making 20 mil now will make 30 mil in 5 or 6 years from now. So I just think he won’t be killing the Mets salary in year 5 or 6 of Burn’s contract. It might be a little high still but not crazy for what kind of pitcher he will be at that part of his career.
