Another meme about our fans

  1. listen im not on team “fire lavi, trade mika for a bag of pucks, etc” but why are we acting like it’s irrational for fans to feel a type of way about how the rangers have been playing?

  2. We’re the worst “above 500” team in the NHL right now

That’s not something to brag about. We should criticize our team when they’re playing like shit.

    And they’re playing like shit.

  3. Giving up 45 shots a game is not a winning formula. Only reason we’re even winning games is because of Igor and Quick. The defense has been truly bad. Lindgren looks like a shell of himself. He’s definitely playing hurt.

  4. lol gonna respond to this when we get eliminated in early may for playing exactly like this. then you can post a dumb fucking meme about that 🤡🤦🏽

  5. Even most of our wins were rough to watch. When we play teams that are contenders we get absolutely dismantled. That’s why people are upset. I still think that if we can make some changes to our system we could become more hopeful but as of rn… not so much.

  6. Rangers went 4-0 against Tampa in ‘22 then Lost 4 straight to get bounced no record in the regular season matters

  7. Rangers expectations are to win a cup this year. Therefore we’re not gonna be happy just being over .500. The team has holes. Same holes as last year that cost us a finals appearance. We’re allowed to talk about it.

  8. the team has also been getting easier wins against non playoff teams, and getting destroyed with actually good teams. it’s literally the same thing over and over again. something’s gotta give.

  9. Just as THG doesn’t treat every win and loss the same in his power rankings, we can’t here. We’ve had some bad and/or frustrating losses against the kinda of teams that we will *have* to beat in the playoffs. If we had stinker losses against Montreal and San Jose instead of just one of the losses against say Winnipeg or Florida, I’d be happier because they, we played down to an opponent but we also played up to the endgame competition.

We also can recognize that we have some deficiencies in the lineup with players not playing to their potential. And that’s just frustrating when they’re going to be here a while and we’re wasting prime years of Panarin and Igor.

That said, it’s also all a matter of expectations and desires. We *want* the damn Cup. We don’t want another ECF exit. If we would be happy with just a deep playoff run, we’re in great shape and have no need to fear or be pessimistic. But for that Cup run? Yeah, a little concerned.

I say all this with nuance, happy for wins, sad for losses, not super enthused about how the year might end if we keep this pace but knowing that tomorrow will bring fantastic unknown possibilities ranting from Brett Berard being the second coming of Mario Lemieux to World War III and none of this means anything. So I’m not a doomer, not a hopium Huffer, just here to have fun.

  10. It’s not the losses, it’s how they are losing. They look like they have never played together.

  11. It’s more than the record. We are terrible against teams that are actually good, and will be in the playoffs. 89 allowed shots on goal in 2 games in unacceptable on all levels.

  12. It’s not the standings that worry me. It’s the fact that on paper, we’ve got plenty of talent, but that’s just not translating to good play on the ice.

It feels like we either win by accident, or by doing what we’ve done for the past decade or more – relying on superhuman goaltending to make up for our shortcomings. And our losses are hideous to watch.

So many mental errors and stupid penalties. Sleepwalking through the first period, showing up with a few stellar plays in the second period, and then folding like a cheap tent in the third. There’s absolutely zero consistency.

At this point, I’d rather watch us lose well, playing hard and smart against a tough team, than watch us win despite ourselves against a non-contender.

  13. Once again, a lack of critical thinking and hockey knowledge makes way for memes that grossly generalize the current situation with this team.

  14. Yup. Let’s make fun of fans who can read statistics and analytics about the team. Also….flordia won a cup. Also also,…that’s not what leads fans are saying. That is how they’ve been standings wise for about a decade

  15. It’s not the record that’s the issue it’s the way we have achieved that record that is the issue, way to much luck and a lot of top tier goaltending has been involved in our record, that is very unsustainable, the Panthers and Leafs look like much more well rounded and talented teams than us

  16. Take away the goaltending and this is a below .500 team. Relying on goaltending to constantly save you isn’t sustainable.

  17. Most Rangers fans are the kind of fan who watches every game and have done so for many seasons now. We have watched this Rangers core for many seasons and many playoffs. We have seen this core look dominant in the regular season only to get dominated in the playoffs. Are we supposed to forget the way this core played in the 2020 Qualifying Round or in the 2023 First Round, or the way they were dominated in the 2022 and 2024 Conference Finals?

This is a core that is built for the regular season but not for the playoffs. Something intangible is missing with this group. A change in the coaching staff hasn’t changed the results. The problem is the core.

On October 26, the Rangers went to bed with a record of 6-1-1. They wake this morning with a record of 12-6-1. That’s 6-5 over the last month of hockey. Things are trending in the wrong direction. Mika and Kreider look uninterested. Trouba is playing terrible hockey. The Rangers are playing at a slower tempo than their opponents, constantly chasing instead of dictating the pace of play. This Rangers core doesn’t come out ready to play, consistently dominated in the first period.

In a vacuum, a fan could simply downplay it all and say things like “We are only 25% of the way into the season. Lots of time left. They will work it out”. But most of us have long memories. We have watched this core for a long time now. Their glaring problems that have been exposed in playoffs in previous years are on display here in this regular season. Rangers fans have reason to be alarmed and concerned.

  18. The wins are great and so is the low loss count, but when they lose they’ve been getting absolutely obliterated, especially in these last two games giving up 40+ shots

  19. The biggest concern is that they still have no idea how to solve a good forecheck and the rest of the league has caught on. And when a team actually has the skill and discipline to execute a high level forecheck we have answer.

Part of it is personnel. Having both Trouba AND Lindgren puts us at a huge disadvantage. It basically means we always have one pair that cannot move the puck against a forecheck. They need at least one more defender who can move the puck well.

I will say Vancouver had a good forecheck the other night and I thought the Rangers handled it well by stopping a lot zone entries at the line. More of that please.

  20. It’s crazy that people doom and gloom about a team that’s won 4 Stanley cups!…. In about 100 years.

Watching this team can be a stressful venture. They score a goal and all of a sudden they can’t get out of their own end. Give up a goal and they can’t get out of their own end. PP means a ton of pretty passes to the point, down low, to the other point, to the other point, down low, skate around, back to the point, you get it. Maybe they’ll try a one timer and get lucky. PK is guys chasing they puck and allllmost getting to it only for the opponent to grab it, fend of a vicious, wild, nowhere near touching the puck poke check and skate back to set up completely untouched and in control. They have a coach who punishes no one for poor play. Hell, you don’t have to scratch Mika or Trouba, just sit them for 5 minutes, take them off the PP, don’t put them on the ice w/and EN on the other side. Simply nailing their butts to the bench for several shifts might be enough to wake some of them up so they stop standing around. But that isn’t gonna happen.

This is the same basic team that got punched in the face and went home crying to mother last playoffs. Who actually thought getting Riley Smith was the key? No one but the Rangers.

Sure they’ll turn it around and go on a nice run at some point and the rainbow farters will say “see, I told you so!” Then the playoffs will roll around and that book on how to stop a soft, slow team with a good goalie will be broken out and yeah…

    Regular season champs baby!!!!

  21. If I can’t criticize a November loss then no one should be allowed to celebrate a November win.

  22. I don’t understand stuff like this. This team is struggling and showing it has difficulty winning when it doesn’t get good goaltending and power play success. I understand not getting all ‘sky is falling’ but there’s definite concerns here without much of an external fix coming b/c of a lack of cap space, picks and prospects.

  23. If all you’re doing is looking at the record, you’re not watching the games. It’s extremely dishonest. When they’ve played top teams, they’ve been non-competitive.

  24. It’s the same story every year. Good regular season record but not good enough to win when it counts in the playoffs. But go off king!

  25. getting close every year but not breaking through is a good way to make sure you fall off soon

  26. I came in here to say this meme is stupid and expected people to be complaining about “doomers” based on all the upvotes on his post but am pleasantly surprised by the top comments.

This team is not built to win a cup. Plain and simple.

  27. I know, what a shame that people would speak their mind about the team playing like dog shit

  28. The only thing more pathetic than a franchise that hasn’t won a cup in 30 years is the fans who are perfectly okay with that year after year.

  29. Imagine thinking records are indicative of overall play. This team has been terrible for nearly all 20 games. Changes are needed.

  30. We’re only beating teams that have losing records.

Some of our best players aren’t showing much effort and are making very basic mistakes.

We’re being hard carried by the goalie, we’re being outshot massively every night

  31. I believe the biggest issues isn’t the number of losses, but how bad we played on those losses. We got destroyed by Florida, Winnipeg, Flames, Capitals, and Oilers. Those were not close games …. We got outscored badly, outplayed, “outhitted” …. Our main players are playing subpar hockey

  32. Yeah, how dare anyone criticize the glaring issues with our team.

But hey, our record is good!!

  33. its because the rangers are always a good team but us fans are sick of the rangers just being a “good team” we want and expect more from them.
