* LaMelo: 44 points (17-30 FG, 4-11 3P), 7 assists, 7 TO
* Every other Hornet: 40 points (14-45 FG, 3-21 3P), 7 assists, 19 TO
We may have surpassed peak-Harden/Luka levels of reliance on LaMelo to generate offense. He’s out there with Miller and a bunch of 12th men. Who’s the next best player beyond those two? …Diabate?
That was something.
josh green sold with that 3
Lamelo Ball vs Orange County FL.
Ugliest game I’ve ever seen (not you Melo my beautiful king)
I’m fine with this season if we tank and bmill and Melo go off every night
Now we know what wins between turnovers and 3pt bricks
Good loss for the tank. Keep developing NSJ
I still don’t see what Jeff saw in Salaun, but I hope he improves over the year
Awful game.
I’m pretty over seeing Tidjane get major reps. Can we sign Lamar Stevens or just any forward who knows how to play basketball.
LaMelo Ball.
Turnovers hurt but our bench was the killer
I don’t even wanna think about how bad we’d be without Melo
Lamelo and Miller had 64/84 points scored this game which tells you all you need to know. Also, there is no overcoming 27 TOs, Orlando were going to hit shots eventually.
We can never hold a lead
turnovers hurt us and was the reason Magic won, enough said.
Hey man, we win and first playoffs since ‘16, we lose and we keep our lotto pick in a good draft. I see this as a win-win (I’m hard coping)
We are not an NBA team
Went from “maybe it’s still the same old magic” to “same old Hornets” in 7 mins smh
When I saw KJ Simpson check in I knew it was over for us 😭
Actually looks like Vasa has essentially been given up on
Damnit
I’ve been critical of Lamelo’s score-first mentality and him ignoring the offense but I’m lifting that criticism and giving him the green light to do whatever until AT LEAST two of our injured players are back, because frankly, that was UGLY. Lamelo legit scored over half the team’s points, and there were many times where he was the only player on the floor that could even be considered an offensive player, much less a good one.
Lamelo and Miller have so much potential (and are already playing so well). I hope they get some help. I know yall have bigs who are injury prone so is it possible to trade for someone like Claxton? Having a lob threat would really open up the Hornets offense and make them even more fun to watch. I’m hoping Lamelo stays healthy and yall put a good team around him (don’t want it to turn into a Harden on rockets scenario but legitimately Miller is a better teammate than anyone Harden had except for healthy CP3 so I think Hornets fans should be excited about the future).
Is it me or does Tidjane look so unathletic. It’s like a guy who has never dribbled the ball. He looks so stiff and mechanical out there.
About what I expected from a roster this depleted. I think people underestimate how much Grant did for us.
You just can’t expect much from this roster at the moment. Lamelo and Brandon are pretty much all they’ve got right now and Brandon will have off nights like tonight. Cody and Josh have their moments, but that’s not much to rely on. They are glue guys, but there isn’t much for them to glue together.
Hoping either Tre or Miles are back Wednesday so we have a shot at least.

My Reaction
This season is…
“Let’s lose a bunch of games we should have won.”
Even if on paper they should be losing, they’ve had so many chances to win a lot of these games and they just can’t figure it out.
We should have beaten
Philly
Magic
Atlanta
Miami
Passed on some players that would be helpful to take Tidjane. Hopefully the arc bends our way long term
another cycle of wasting an all star PG’s time with us because we’re twiddling our fingers every offseason
Watching Coach Lee run up and down the sidelines, jumping, yelling, and being all animated is just amateurish. Maybe he should’ve just been a highschool or college coach.
This is not a smart team. The turnovers speak for themselves but that brutal 4th quarter stretch where the Magic pulled away…whose idea was it to try to have Melo and Miller take turns trying to score on Isaac? Do they not realize that Isaac is one of the better defenders in the league??
I realize that this is a stale offense that is going to rely on Melo and Miller usage but at least figure out how to get them favorable matchups with the weaker defenders on the floor instead of trying to challenge one of the best defenders.
Charles Lee is trying to call offensive plays live once they pass half court . It seems obvious to me that teams are locking in on Miller and forcing Melo to shoot non-stop and seems to be working. Brandon needs an offensive coach. Other than the lob tonight, Melo didn’t set Brandon up with a single decent look. Melo is keeping us in games and hitting some wild shots but may need to get the only other scorer some good looks if he wants to win and not just get his. Miller had 9 in q1and didn’t get many good shots after that.
CP3 has looked good for the Spurs playing 28 mpg. If he is not interested in ring chasing next season and wants a similar role, he would be the first free agent I call this summer. We desperately need a vet who knows what he’s doing out there. It would make Melo better too because he’d be able to focus on what he does best as a pure scorer. Based on the offense we’ve seen so far with Charles Lee, I think it’s safe to say he’s not going to be an offensive guru. We could use a PG who can be trusted to run things on the court.
Need to trade for Austin reaves get that sniper next to melo
