I love how everyone calls everything a shithole now. As if their opinion would discredit an entire city and or region.
Wild take
I am a diehard blues fan just cuz I don’t have a tacky sticker on my car doesn’t mean shit
Who cares?
Yeah, kinda their whole schtick is thinking Boston is the greatest thing since sliced bread
I can feel the maturity just radiating from their bones.
Boston doing their best to live up to the “elitist” stereotype lol
Sounds like some people are still salty over 2019.
Blues did win in Boston (10x, baby!)
Imagine linking fandom with how frequently you see a tacky bumper sticker. Meanwhile no mention of their experiences at an actual GAME. 2019 forever. Stay mad.
Ah, Bostonians. The loud ones unconsciously broadcast their insecurity around playing 2nd fiddle to NYC.
We didn’t burn a single car when we won in 2019 so obviously we’re all casuals.
People like to say hockey blew up here after the cup don’t know what they’re talking about. Youth hockey in STL is extremely competitive and popular and has been for a decade. 5 kids don’t get drafted in the first round from stl in 2016 without it a huge hockey culture. Hockey is huge here and growing.
Now this is a prime example of people coping
In general the vitriol you see on hockey subs is pretty crazy. Totally uncalled for and out of proportion. After the recent Calgary v Minnesota game it was discussed at length how Flames fans are bums… because we didn’t see eye to eye on the calls.
I for one am going to enjoy the occasional salt mining from the Bruins sub if they continue to slide and the Blues get a nice uptick.
I always love the comments that are like, “if you’re not in the nice suburbs or areas that are attractive to tourists, it’s a shit hole.” So like, if you go to the bad parts of a city, it’s worse than the nice parts of it? Brilliant.

If you want sanity, reason and adherence to reality, Bruins fans are about the last place to go.
Boston fans are passionate for sure.
They’re also rather pompous and ignorant when it comes to STL and sports here apparently. They also seem to have more assholes in their fan base than most other places. And they’ll tell you that. They’re proud of it. 🤦
St. Louis isn’t called one of the best sports cities for nothing. Athletes love it here. A disproportionate number who played here live around here after they retire. Our teams are generally pretty competitive, if not contenders way more often than most other cities. And the sports history here is deep and rich. It’s a fun area to be a sports fan.
Blues fans are 2nd to nobody. We waited over 50 years and endured soooo much playoff futility and disappointment over the years. Lots of ownership instability over the decades and an owner who tried to sell the team to a group from Saskatchewan. And the fan base remained strong the entire time. This area loves the Blues.
Bruins fans will never get over 2019. And that’s fine. That’s sports. But they’re also all by themselves on an island with that thinking. The whole world was rooting for the Blues in that series. People hate Boston sports teams and that fan base. We had the world in our corner.
Monty played for the Blues, scored his first NHL goal here, played and coached for the River Otters here, his wife is from here, Army gave him a 2nd chance in the NHL after his drinking issues for him fired in Dallas when he was hired as an assistant… so he’s obviously forever grateful for that. There are tons of reasons why he’d want to be here. This isn’t hard at all to understand. But we’re talking about Boston fans living in a bubble over there. Not surprising at all to hear those kinds of comments from them. Typical.
Must have lived in a different part of Missouri. Blues have always been big in St. Louis and more popular than most NHL teams are in their home cities.
I just love when people make false claims to help their depressed bias
Oh no! Anyway…
There’s a theory gaining traction that Monty already had a job lined up with the blues and was looking to get fired from Boston, or didn’t care if he got fired because he had a “backup option”.
This isn’t just fans, I’ve already heard this spouted on radio shows.
Why take responsibility for anything when you can just make a conspiracy theory!
There’s a hockey team in Boston?
“but if you win in Boston, it means 10x more than winning in St. Louis”
Lol. Okay.
I pointed out on that thread that we’re probably a bigger hockey town than he thinks, and some agreed with me.
Also, the grammar and spelling on that sub vs here is insane lol.
Boston is just a historical shithole filled with racist assholes
So uninformed. STL is definitely a hockey town. Great attendance record and great franchise win record. And the number of players that this metro puts in and around the league is worth mentioning. Boston has a lot of people in it. Some of them are bound to be full of shit.
This is so fucking funny to me lmao the amount of pure cope, like their team didn’t blow it and their management is sane…I mean, it’s like a fucking beautiful poem to me 😂
Funny, I don’t think about Boston at all…
Visited Boston last month for a week for the first time. I wanted to love it, but it only made me realize how amazing STL is. We have all the historic character and charm, just as good of food but a way better coffee scene, much more affordable real estate, and way better tax funded amenities. They have a lot of cultural diversity (probably due to all the universities), a good transit system, and it’s also generally walkable (probably due to the transit system.) Just not worth the trade off.
Not worth getting mad over or even reading. Northeasterners are perpetually grouchy
*Insert Marchand crying gif*
Hockey is non-existent in Missouri outside of St. Louis? Try telling that to the youth club in Jefferson City.
The cup we took from them on their home ice sure made our city shine bright
I hope they tell Trent Frederic everything they are saying.
I mean… if one of your indicators is the infrastructure, to determine if a city is a shit hole, then yes, St.Louis has that checked off..
So…. St. Louis doesn’t care about hockey?
LOL!!!
Oooooo K. Clearly, this guy doesn’t get out of Boston much.
As someone who has traveled North America quite extensively during a 31 year traveling job, and who has been in many hockey venues across the USA – I can easily put St. Louis among the top hockey markets this side of the US/CAN border.
The rivalry between St. Louis and Boston grows
Gotta be pretty dumb to say Hockey isn’t big in St. Louis. Pretty sure we had 5 players drafted in one year out of St. Louis.
That’s cool though. Totally okay with us being a sleepy hockey city.
More people in STL came out to see the Barn go down than came out to see the Pope a few years earlier…
fuck those crybabies 🤣
Cope seethe fume. Trash fans
I travel to Boston twice a year for work, and it’s actually a pretty cool and nice city. There a few gripes I have about it, but I’m not going to resort to classlessness of shitting on it like are about St. Louis. I’ve lived in many different cities, but I’ve spent the vast majority of my life here. The thing about St. Louis is that there’s plenty of variety and has just about everything any other city has. To just blanket call it a shithole, you either never been or didn’t like where you stayed/what you did when you were here. I understand if you’re living here, there can be price barriers for some of the nicer areas, but comparatively speaking to Boston, those barriers are MUCH lower.
St. Louis not being a hockey town is laughable. I guess you could argue baseball is more widespread, but Blues probably have a larger percentage of their fanbase as diehards. Most of my friends like that don’t even pay attention to the Cardinals (pretty easy to lately) or much other sports at all. And it’s not like the fanbase as a whole is small. To brush it off as “maybe a few stickers on cars” is hilarious when you think about all the culture and history. Though to be fair, I’m sure they were too bitter to see watch the parade in 2019.

Blues fans: A) all super nice Midwestern folks, ope! aw shucks?
or B) terrible, face-eating, racists who burn Kadri effigies on a weekly basis?
