[Jones] Bears have plan for next head coach: Chicago pinpoints this criteria (leader of men) and one surprising name could be in mix (ND Coach Marcus Freeman)

  1. Why should we have even 1 shred of faith that this crew can get this right? They’ve hired and fired a billion coaches in 2 years.

  2. Leader of men is a nickelback song. Based of that criteria Chad Kroeger is our leading candidate.

  3. While I’m not sure freeman is the guy this would be the first time in a long time aside from John Fox who was obviously over the hill and recommended by one of these outside consultants that they went for the CEO type coach vs one based off scheme.

  4. I don’t think it’ll happen but please let Marcus Freeman stay in South Bend. Idk how he’d be on the pro level but I’ve been happy with him as the coach of the Irish thus far.

  5. Can I please order a leader of developing quarterbacks and  play calling instead?

  6. Spare me the leader of men nonsense and just get somebody that can develop a quarterback

  7. No surprising names please. Do you know who else was a surprising choice? Marc Trestman.

  8. Oh god that’s a classic dumbass Chicago “he’s from Notre Dame so we like him” hire.

  9. No. Freeman, while a very good coach, I don’t think he’s NFL coaching material. Not yet.

  10. >”The leader-of-men model has become more popular in recent years. Part of that is due to a dearth of hot-shot offensive coordinator talent. But there has also been the sustained success of Mike Tomlin and more recent success of Dan Campbell.

    >Last year, that type of coach was en vogue. Raheem Morris, Dan Quinn, Jerod Mayo and Jim Harbaugh all landed jobs in the cycle.”

Bears one year too late, playing catchup. As usual. Imagine 10 months ago they had a chance to hire Harbaugh didn’t even look into it. Now they are scrambling to find a Harbaugh type and will no doubt pull some nobody from nowhere with a similar personality but none of the talent.

  11. I’m of two minds about Johnson but if we hire Glenn over him, I’ll start a statewide petition for the team to be moved to Rockford

  12. Please no freeman. I feel like 80% of his success is due to recruiting. Won’t have that advantage in nfl

  13. Did anyone actually read this piece or are they just going off the clickbait title lol.

No mention of Freeman being actually linked, all it says is the Bears drafted him in 09 and that NFL teams may be interested in him due to Notre Dames success.

    Nothing more.

  14. This guys a recruiter. This is absolutely his agent trying to get an extension /more money .

  15. Can we all just pump the brakes here? From now until the new coach is hired there’s going to be a lot of wild speculation and hearsay. If we start pulling our hair out about each potential hire we’re in for a bad time.

We’re literally like a pack of abused dogs at this point. Don’t try to pet us, we’ll bite you.
