  3. On putting a D in the lineup as a forward. The Penguins did this during the bankruptcy-era (post-Jagr, pre-Crosby) with Ian Moran on at least one occasion.

  10. Goal tending and D are much improved. Plus, with those injuries they have been lucky that a couple of guys stood up for the challenge.

Would love to see Leaf focused trade tree vids–You could call it "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly…emphasis on ugly..yes I'm still salty about the Leafs trading Lanny when I was 9 for Wilf Paiement and Pat Hickey b/c you were mad at Daryl Sittler and he had a no-trade …but I'll recover…somehow…You young uns will never know the sheer terror and misery of the Harold Ballard era……help…..Actually the Trade Tree idea might be too painful–forget I ever mentioned it……..

  24. Here’s the reason for that cross check penalty to OEL: he lumbers a guy who wasn’t even bugging the goalie and that’s the call. The retaliation was fair and would not have happened had OEL initiated thus it was not called. Again probably not something people would want to hear but that’s probably it

  27. Now imagine your team loses because of the refs, like how the habs were screwed by the refs just giving the rangers free powerplays so that they could actually score goals.

    Calling things penalties even though they werent penalties, and instead of offsetting minors, they just give montreal a double minor and dont explain it. They dont even announce it. Its bullshit

  30. OEL does not get that cross checking call if he was still playing on the Florida Panthers. So he gets a penalty for cross checking and then he takes a cross check and that player doesn't get a penalty. Wtf is that?

  32. 21:55 you make up the goals difference by playing better team defense and having better goal tending. Also, you can just look at the goals for straight up. How many of Matthews goals were empty net goals and how many were when they were up by 2 or more goals and they essentially have the game won.

  33. It would be nice if the NHL could acknowledge their refs aren’t perfect omnipotent beings who make no mistakes. Or, as you put it Steve, treat the fans like adults instead of gas lighting.

  35. Everyone keeps saying the Leafs aren't scoring enough but after 23 games last year (with an Auston Matthews doing hat tricks like every 4 games) had 80 goals. This year with so many injuries or snake bitten forwards and without Matthews for 9 games they have 70.

    This team is sticking it in the net perfectly well.

So, the third period non consequential minors……..I go back to my comment last week……..imo the officials in the league are 💯 mandated to control the flow of the game to make it more dramatic and exciting………….again, this league is most definitely directed for entertainment than true professionalism.

    I love the game, but this is no longer about the game…….but just the sales……….I miss my game

  40. "life as an nhl fan" true Steve… Here's the thing. I used to be a 10/10 fan…now, thanks to those 'crumbs' as you put it, I'm a 2/10 fan. No money spent on merch, tickets, etc. I'll support you and sdpn more than the NHL because you call it as you see it, aren't perfect and call that out too. NHL needs to grow up.

It's the instigator rule I have been a minor hockey official for almost 30 years and they always instruct us to call the initial penalty which was oel but to call it to make team on player short which is ok but not if the other does something else what I would have called is double minor plus a minor but that's just me

  50. This G and D core honestly seems the most promising for a playoff push this year. Coming from a non leafs fan they're looking underratedly solid, just need the forwards to not pull a hoodini come round 1/2 of ploffs
