We don’t need to trade the farm for that guy.
If they’re actually going after him it all but confirms Ashcraft is moving to the bullpen, right?
Could there be something to that 3 way trade rumor where we land both Crochet and Bohm?
So read the tweet- The words “among” and “viable” carry a lot of weight here. Made to hint at the fact that those are the only two teams are actively pursuing, but really stating they are 2 of many teams who could be involved.
Translation- White Sox aren’t getting the offers they want from the likely candidates, and are trying to create the air that there’s more bidders, trying to drive the price up.
Wouldn’t read much into this one.
Doesn’t make much sense as we have 5/6 starters at the moment, be kinda odd to trade good talent for another starter when we don’t need one
Unless they’re planning on giving up on Lodolo as a starting option, this only makes sense if he is the primary piece we’d be sending to the White Sox in the deal
We have a pretty good bullpen at this point, right? Last year all of our relievers were pretty reliable (to a point). We have Greene, Martinez, Lodolo, Singer….what we don’t have are reliable bats. We really need some offense if we are going to compete for the NL Central crown. I don’t know how many times I watched The Reds last season where we just needed a base hit or a little momentum and they just couldn’t get anything going. I really hope they try and get a hitter, especially with India now in KC.
The White Sox are shooting for the moon for this guy and they should. Crochet and Luis Robert are the only guys they have who can bring back the type of return they need to start fixing the disaster over there.
The Dodgers are waiting to see what happens with Roki Sasaki before they offer the moon for Crochet. If Roki goes to San Diego with Darvish, the Dodgers will go get Crochet.
The Reds and Cubs are just involved to jack up the price.
Already got a rotation of Greene, Lodolo, Rhett, Singer, Abbott, and Martinez. That’s 6 dudes of an awesome rotation, before you even think about Williamson, Phillips, Spiers, and Chase Burns coming soon. If a Crochett trade happened (which I don’t expect it to and I’m brushing this off as absolutely nothing until I see otherwise) I’d almost guarantee youd see Lodolo in it.
I could see a Crochet & Robert blockbuster. Would probably have to include Lowder or Burnes and one of the top IF prospects (Marte/Arroyo/Stewart/Collier) as a staring point, with some other decent guys (Floyd/Jorge types). Would imagine Will Benson would be added as filler. Could see them wanting Petty too. Maybe the Reds would include more and try to get the Sox to take Candy as well to free up payroll.
Everything I’ve read says the Sox are asking for the moon, so if he does happen, I think people will believe we’ve given up way too much.
Interesting but at what cost
has anyone seen anything saying the Reds are actually pursuing? all I’ve seen is that they are a ‘viable candidate’, which simply means they have enough of the right prospects/MLB Talent to do this if they want. I feel like this is classic clickbait

No way, that’d be cool
