It’s been a rough start to the season but hopefully this reset will bring the spark back!

  1. I don’t understand what is going on with Kuz and why he isn’t playing. Can someone please explain? I really like him as a player and I am confused about what is happening here.
*I live in a remote location, Flames games are a luxury, it’s not consistently easy to keep updated on happenings*

  2. I’m very conflicted. Judging from past results, Kuzmenko does not respond like one might expect a benched player to when he’s made a healthy scratch (as it evident from his time in Vancouver).

I think he’s well liked in the dressing room but I wonder what is the root cause of his poor play. I suspect a lack of confidence, a lack of security regarding his future. But, what’s the solution? I’d like to see him become more physically involved in the game, for one thing. Maybe literally dragging him in will help.

I’m not like… Mad or anything at him. Taking on his salary was a favour to Vancouver and an attempt at “fixing” him that was actually not bad last year. It didn’t cost us anything to do it. So, while it would have been nice to get an asset for him, it isn’t like a monumental loss that we likely won’t.

But, I do think there’s something to be said for a comeback this season, still, and he’s an absolute pleasure to watch when he’s on it. He came to camp in great shape, apparently (which was an issue for him in Vancouver), so I do think he can get back to it once he gains some confidence.

  3. Thanks for this info everyone… I am disappointed, yet hopeful, this will turn around. I think I will remain supportive for the next while & hope he returns to previous performance levels… he has a great off-ice personality and I would like to see things improve for him. He needs some puck luck by the sounds of it…

  4. He’s dead last on the team in shot attempts per 60 behind guys like pachal and lomberg.

  5. There was a graphic that came out the other day showing he’s one of the slowest skating forwards in the league. Right at the bottom with Pat Maroon

  6. I know the advanced stats are saying the guy is playing like shit right now but I just don’t see it. When he’s in the lineup, he’s the only guy who plays with any flare or has the audacity to take offensive risks. Granted, it hasn’t worked great lately, but the effort is always and has always been there. Hopefully he gets rolling, would hate to have to cut bait at the deadline.

  7. He’s too addicted to passing. I will admit he creates some crazy chances but we don’t have any finish

  8. I miss the Kuzy from last year that was offensively dynamic and a point producing machine.

Does he not realise this is a contract year? Does he not like making millions of dollars?
