1. We have a penchant for comeback wins but it felt good to shut off the game after the 2nd period and spend some time with my newborn son. We’re such a good team that the losses especially shutouts at home are all the more inexcusable. I predicted they will really hit their stride after the holidays and into January. We’re in a great position moving forward.

2. Do you ever feel like the team is matching your own energy? I did not feel the hype for that match up last night and kind of knew it would be a dud for whatever reason and the result matched. I think a problem last night is our top 2 lines are producing but not the bottom and when you’re using a top line for a highly offensive threat like MacKinnon it kind of cancels out the offense from them. That’s when you need production from depth people or key PP goals and they didn’t get either last night. Time to move on to another tough match up tomorrow.

3. They looked great for the first half of the 1st period but seemed like they just gave up the rest of the game. I’m not sure if the disallowed goals got into their heads but they looked so disinterested for the rest of the game. Quite frankly they were sloppy. They weren’t winning any battles and passes were constantly behind their man. Hopefully it’s just a blip on the radar
