[Passan] BREAKING: Left-hander Max Fried and the New York Yankees are in agreement on a eight-year, $218 million contract, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. It is the largest guarantee in baseball history for a left-handed pitcher.

  1. My three least favorite teams outside the NLE are Dodgers, Yankees, Cubs so those were the logical landing spots for Freddie, Max, and Dansby.

  2. I love you Max, but an 8-year contract is a lot of time for a pitcher in his 30s.

Thank you for everything. You got your bag. I wish you the best, except when we face each other.

  3. I’m a Max lover, but fuck me he’s not worth that much, glad he got his bag tho.

  4. I always will be thankful for World Series game 6 but other than that awful postseason starter.

  5. Congrats Maximillian for getting the bag.

Hopefully his years are not great and he comes crawling back after being unceremoniously jettisoned out of NY. Media is louder up there in the big city and for his struggles, it wont be as kind as what it was here.

  6. It’s pretty sad when I’m actually happy that Fried signed with the Yankees. That’s how ridiculous the Dodgers and Mets dishing out money is

  7. Holy hell that’s an overpay for him, good luck to him though for sure. Will always be a fan.

  8. I hope we’re not saving all this money to go get another .200 hitter, because that’s what the team needs. /s

  9. If a team isn’t going to overpay this offseason they aren’t getting anyone significant. Little bit of pressure on ole AA….

  10. Thanks for the memories Max. And yes there were lots of them including that gritty and gutsy World Series Game 6 performance! But I’m very glad we are not paying him that.

  11. Congrats to Max! Atlanta was absolutely never doing this deal for a pitcher in his thirties. But the Yankees operate in a totally different economic environment so signing Fried to this deal is like the equivalent of a rebound relationship for them after the Soto sweepstakes.

Let’s go trade for Dylan Cease or something

  12. Nobody can ever take the game 6 memories from us. Thank You Max. Thank god you are not in the East or the NL.

  13. I’m surprised he didn’t get a blister signing the contract.

Jokes aside, gonna miss Max. Glad he got a bag, thanks for everything.

  14. AA better take note.

Prices are going up, my brother.

(I’m not complaining about our payroll. This is just a fact.)

  15. Dearest mother,

The cannons have been extinguished. The muskets have been laid upon this revered ground, and the muskets balls melted down to make railroad spikes for the newest railway that will take man out west and beyond.

The fight is over. The war is done. And still your tears, mother, for I am moving north. Never forget me. I will hold you in my heart forever, even in the deepest, darkest souls of New York City.

    Your loving son,

    Staff Sergeant Max Fried

  16. Congrats on that bag Fried. Going to the Yanks sucks but at least it’s not the Dodgers or Mets
