It certainly would have helped them get to their payroll minimum sooner.
The Oakland Athletics? No? Oh, then I don’t give a f***
This is actually just gonna happen a lot. A’s are desperate to prove they’re a real team so they’re gonna keep trying to overpay, and agents are just going to use them to drive up the price to the team the player actually wants to play for. The only players who will end up on the A’s are the ones for whom the A’s are willing to overpay against themselves to get.
the crackhead on the corner is relentless with his ridiculous lowball offers, too.
“What number can we quote you that will obviously not be accepted but also lets us continue the ruse that we’re a serious organization.”
The A’s, probably
All bay area teams seem regularly used by agents to drive up their clients’ costs. Especially when dealing with any NY or LA based teams. But I’m sure this doesn’t only negativity affect small market teams right?
… right?

Players know a garbage owner when they see one. Severino signed because the team overpaid and likely offered a longer deal than others considering his injury history.
lol they were probably thinking they could get him for a 2 year deal at $80m. And that would be a huge shock.
