Hammy’s emotional reaction to getting the call from the BHOF about the Ford C. Frick Award. How do you not start bawling?

  1. I will legitimately riot if Hammy doesn’t get a statue. Amazing person and the best announcer. Couldn’t imagine anyone better! Very much deserved!

  2. It’s gotta be the greatest feeling ever as an announcer to be recognized like this. The baseball HOF is so hard to make and Hammy absolutely deserves it

  3. Wouldn’t trade this guy for the next 15 top picks in the draft. He has been a crucial part of my Summers growing up, and i enjoy listening to him so much I prefer it to actually watching the games.

  4. Such a class act and I’m so blessed to be able to call him “ours” as an Indians/Guards fan my whole life

  5. As he was talking about his booth partners I kinda realized how lucky I was that my childhood was spent listening to arguably some of the greatest radio broadcasters in the history of their sports. Tom Hamilton, Nev Chandler/CaseyColeman and Joe Tait.

  6. Great day for Hammy and so well deserved! One of the best in the business. So happy for him. To paraphrase another poster, we are lucky to have him as the soundtrack to our summers, and have been lucky for the past 35 seasons.

  7. I’ve never been so thankful for YouTube and the digital era, as I will be going back to listen to hammy’s calls for the rest of my life. It will be an utterly devastating day when he steps away, but at least we can all go back and relive some of our greatest baseball memories with the familiar voice of summer, of lots of incredible memories, and frankly the voice that is as much the “brand” of this team to me as any logo. No-brainer hall of famer, and certainly one of the best to ever do it. I’m not crying, my eyes are just made of onions

  8. Hammy is right up there with the best who’ve ever done this job. I feel like that’s a completely objective and unarguable take. Love the guy.
