The Celtics are the favorites to land Ben Simmons if the Nets end up trading or buying him out, per @BetOnline_ag

  1. You know what, I actually like it. Zero pressure on him to contribute. Send him in as the 8th man behind pritchard and Horford and let him just be a defensive force with zero offensive pressure

  2. I have no idea if Brad would be interested in a guy with a lot of talent, a blown back, and an iffy head on a vet minimum, but I’m confident there is less than a 0% chance the Celtics could or would swing any sort of trade for Ben Simmons on his current contract.

  3. It’s hard for us to match his salary, and that’s only possible if he’s bought out.

**Edit: Even if he gets bought out we can’t sign him because the apron rule.**

But I highly doubt we would want a guy who couldn’t shoot, even if we only had to pay him a minimum salary.

In addition, he also has health problems. I want to know which camp deliberately released such news.

  4. We’ve got enough shooters. His defense would be tremendous as an 8th or 9th guy. 4 shooters around him and all of a sudden hes not an issue on the floor. I like the move if it’s not gonna gut the team.

  5. I doubt it, but honestly this could be the exact situation he needs. He wouldn’t even be the 4th option, he literally would just need to pass and play defense, there would be basically no pressure on him, this would be the place to play to his strengths

  6. If it’s a buyout and minimum for a partial season, I want it. I want it because I think he’d be a good fit to rest Al and KP before the real games start, his D is solid, and most importantly, if he wins a ring here (or makes it past the second round), Philly will implode.
