  1. New CBA means teams over the apron cannot sign buyout players who where on large contracts. Next year we can only offer the minimum, and as bad as he is, he will still almost certainly get more than the minimum next year.

The only way to trade for him this season is to give up a player who makes more than his salary ($40m) as we can no longer combine salaries, the only player that meets this criteria is Jaylen Brown.

Yet despite all this, the post is filled with comments arguing about it as if it is a real possibility. If we are going to do that, how about we start arguing if we could trade for 1985 Larry Bird in the offseason?

  2. I feel like anyone that frequents this sub knows it’s bullshit, and it was shared so we could share in/giggle at just how unlikely it is from just about any angle.

  3. Additionally, anybody who knows anything about both Ben Simmons or the Brad-era Celtics knows this is bs. Celtics don’t sign quitters who don’t care about basketball.

  4. People fighting over unbelievably stupid trades that should and would never happen is as American as apple pie.

  5. The important thing people are missing about that post is that it’s just betting odds, which are just as good at predicting as me having my dog make a prediction. There’s literally zero evidence that he or the Celtics are even considering it. So it’s pointless to even talk about. Whoever made that post is dumb.

Don’t use betting odds as predictions people!!!

  6. No one needed to clarify this was bullshit for me to not believe it. What good could Ben Simmons possibly do for this team, even if it were possible? Nada

  7. No one is going to sign Ben Simmons. If guys like Lonnie walker gotta play in the EU this guy at BEST goes to china.

  8. Anybody who knows that Brad Stevens is the GM of this franchise should know that this was never, and never will be, a real thing
