For people pointing at pure tank mode teams(buffalo,Ottawa) as how it doesn’t work you can equally point at (det,Nash) as teams who refuse to tank and took our current approach who have all been stuck in mediocrity and used free agency. You can be a real good team if you catch right breaks. But GREAT teams with sustainability never created this path. I’ll continue to root for players on ice and to be wrong each night but it really is undeniable
I think in philly especially we feel like we have to be the worst team in history to win a Stanley cup. I can't think of many teams that worked for. Its about getting a franchise player or two by drafting well and players and coahes who work well together. The flyers still dont have a goalie so they have a ceiling by default. If they develop a dcore to be elite and draft another top end forward, (doesnt have to be a number 1 pick) who fits in, then we can begin to get real playoff experience which is needed for teams to grow
