Except pay him as much as the Mets were willing to pay him.
You mean like offering his family a complementary suite??? 🤡
Not offering Soto’s family a suite “because judge and Jeter had to pay” is a choice. Period.
They just couldn’t match the stupidity of the Mets.
Or as I look at Boras used the Yankees and Blue Jays to take more of Cohen’s money. Well played by Boras as the Yankees never had an opportunity to counter. I am personally glad they did not as I do not want a 30-31 year old DH being paid $50M.

Dude the Mets have him a damn suite for his family for every home game and security for his family for the next 15 years….
Yankees were not setting that precedent. You can get all the talent in the world but you have to be careful about what extras you give one player over another because that can cause issues for chemistry in the long run.
Sure a handful of games, I am sure most teams give little perks for family and what not. But Soto had this put into his contract…. and yankees were like nope…
Mets better go back and add that too there other stars… lol
Overpaid, we can get 3-5 players with the money we saved. He will make the Met bankrupt in 5 years
If you have a guy who is basically playing a year with you and giving you an extended interview.. you do everything to make him happy… obviously the suite issue was a big thing for him, obviously he felt people personal to him were disrespected and the issue of family is a huge huge deal for Dominican folks.. Soto is basically saying Yankees did everything but it wasn’t really about money, it was him ensuring his family is never insulted
