I just saw this video from "Thinking Basketball" Youtube Channel. The Memphis Grizzles have been running an experimental offense I'd describe as a carrousel offense. It doesn't use pick and roles instead it has the entire offense rotate 360 in unison one position every time the ball handler moves into a new position. It creates massive driving lanes. With Giannis being unstoppable in driving lane and requiring 2/3 defenders to stop this could create chaos for opponents defense trying to stop Giannis/Dame.

Here is the video breaking down the offensive scheme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6-NPUOHH6I

  1. I’ve been saying we need way more off the ball movement and cutting to the basket. Everyone standing around the three point line doesn’t work when they have an off shooting night from 3. More lobs from Giannis to Brook and Brook to Giannis. Most teams can’t match up with them on the floor.

  2. No because the refs would still allow teams to physically assault Giannis because he’s a European Black player.

  3. The line of coaches we’ve had aren’t smart enough to implement off ball movement. Since bud our game plan has been run 2 man action with giannis and pass to 3. That’s why the wall became such a great game plan against giannis. Even with doc the most our role players do without the ball is set and run off screens at the elbows.

I’ve gotten so sick of seeing coaches refuse to do obvious shit due to the fact giannis is a great finisher. Guess what? He’s getting doubled and tripled every time he drives anyways! Why don’t we start having people follow and cut behind help?
I know we don’t have great finishers outside of giannis but all eyes are on him when he’s in the paint regardless so as long as they can hit quick open layups they’d be fine.

I mean just imagine any of our role players cutting during a dame/giannis pick and roll. Have AJ cut from the elbow and you will either have an open corner 3 or an open lay.

  4. Hm. This does rely on our role players a lot more to attack driving lanes and while it does look intriguing I don’t know if it would necessarily be more effective that keeping the ball in Dame/Giannis hands and just having those 2 attack driving lanes. Especially against defenses with a anchor big i don’t see how we’re gonna be able to get then opponent into relation with say GTJ driving.
