Can’t agree with you more. Absolutely bang on. I love Stevie Y and what he means to Detroit. But it huts to say that he needs to take ownership of this pathetic display of hockey this team is playing. Not doing anything is mind boggling. How the hell Lalonde is still behind the bench blows me away. This team is hard to watch and Lalonde keeps going with the same formula expecting a different result.
The longest leash i’ve ever seen for a GM. Year 6 and nowhere close to contention. Please someone tell me any other franchise that would allow this long of a tenure with absolutely zero to show for it
That walman trade was to clear salary cap to sign Steven Stamkos
To be fair, the goalies have been some of the most valuable signings around the league.
The Walman trade, I MEAN DUMP! This was when I began to REALLY scratch my head at Yzerman's plan. It's so sad. He loved playing here. We loved Walman. It continued with Maatta and now we have two Defenseman who are some of the best in the league backed up with some of the worst in the league.
I think only Stevie Y knows what's going on. This must be a 2-3 year plan because if you have not noticed. NO long term contracts since Debrincat.
I don't think Yzerman cares about winning right now.

Yzerman is the main problem, and the coach is a secondary problem. This organization does not know how to win in the salary cap era. I thought one of the saddest days was when Chelios left to go back to Chicago–because few people are more competitive than Chelios. We needed him in our organization. I didn't like losing Bertuzzi either. I know all the excuses will come why they had to do it, but here's the thing: who did you replace him with? You have to have guys like him on your team if you want to win. This team is built wrong! That's the main problem.

the plan has always been to play "his" draft picks. the rest of his moves have been bad for sure. i'm guessing he wanted the solid bridge to his picks and he definitely has failed there.

So I know Yzerman hates extreme cellys… the moment Walman did the gritty the first time ,I says to myself,, ohh Stevie is pissed!! 😅 then did it again,, then Bam,, traded!
I tried to defend the Yzerplan at first but I just can’t anymore. SY has made too many bad signings and questionable decisions, and hasn’t held his coach accountable for lack of leadership and failing to motivate the team. At least the prospect pool looks promising, but thats about the only good thing Yzerman has done during his time as Wings GM. At this point in the rebuild the Wings should be seeing results and not tanking, and that falls on him.
Yzerman should've been fired 10 games ago for not firing LaLonde. The Yzerman azz kissing and getting a pass on everything because of his playing days here should've been over 2 years ago. The 15 yr Yzerplan slow roll on everything and everybody is OVER…C'mon Detroit hockey fans see it for what it is. P.S. Nice call out Mike🤷🏻♂🤷🏻♂🤷🏻♂

Your complaints are aimed at the wrong petson. Chris Illich is who you should be pointing the finger at. He is not letting SY run things the way he wants and Illich is letting him take the blame ! Shame on him for disrespecting the fans ; and the trust that his father built !
Also, it took SY at least 3.5 years to set the ship right after Holland emptied EVERY cupboard ! Our mgmnt. has drafted very well and we should see the fruits of the labor in about 2 years. Patience is necessary, this team had nothing left when Steve came here . GR are kicking butt , Euro prospects looking good and junior/college prospects looking good. The problem is Lalonde and Company. We need a proven winner like Quenneville to coach this team correctly. You really can't judge them with this sad excuse of a coach. This current roster i as just a bridge ! 1/2 these guys were not meant to be any more than that. Have patience and wake up. ILLICH IS IN CHARGE, not Steve Y. !!!

lalonde should have been fired last year during either of the multigame losing streaks. petry, cane, tarasenko signings are questionable to say the least. walman and gostisbehere trades are equally questionable. if kids are the future of the wings, then it's time to play them.

Draper is not proving to be a scout of any worth. Yes their 1st round picks are note worthy. After the first round their draft picks have been a void of mystery. The 2023 second round with 3 selections was the biggest head scratcher with scoring being the biggest necessity they went with another goalie a project dmen in B. Cleve;land …..A. Gibson already traded away. Forwards Carson Rehkopf, Kalan Lind, Gracyn Sawchyn, and Lenni Hameenaho all went elsewhere. Even if these 4 forwards do not make the NHL at least you keep trying.

I loved Yzerman as a player, but my patients has run out as a GM. This Yzerplan has turned into a never-ending rebuild. After 5 years, we are back to where we started.
It's unfortunately still a matter of patience. I do think their pro scouting has been less than stellar but they are really stopgap type of players while the kids start to get opportunities. He has had some solid draft picks in Raymond, Mo, Ed, and even Kasper who have made the jump and appear to be solid players. Ray and Mo essentially proven, Ed appears like he could be high-end, and Kasper is already pretty effective and will hopefully turn into a difference maker as he matured.
While its fair to judge Yzerman on the Walman trade and some of the bad FA stopgaps that have not worked. We essentially dont know if the plan is working until some of the prospects like Cossa, Danielson, ASP, MBN, Augustine, Buchnelikov, Mazur, Kiiskinen, Lombardi, Finnie, Wallinder, LDN, Becher, Plante, and Buium are ready to contribute.
Hockey rebuilds take time. Yzerman should be critiqued but realistically they seem to have accumulated a high-end prospect pool that will hopefully set up for a nice core soon enough.
Saving pennies by letting Gostisbehere walk and replacing him with Gustafsson was a brutal move. Copp/Compher are the money that needed to be moved. Those are guys are both making 3x what they should be. I dont know what analytics software the wings are using but its busted.
