I’m assuming Leddy isn’t recovering as expected and this is a move to try and shore up LD. 38.5% retained is pretty nice, but where does he fit in the lineup?

Just speculating, but taking on another aging d with term means Leddy is probably out the rest the year and possibly Krug is done forever.
Makes no sense to have Krug, Fowler and Leddy all on the roster as active players next year.
Someone spin this trade positively for me
Also had to do the math but this will make his cap slightly less than 4m aav (3.99) which is close to Leddy.
Get the parade ready
Offer sheets off the menu for next year boys
Wow, Friedman actually nailed one. Not sure how I feel about the deal. The price is very nice, but Fowler has been brutal this season. Hopefully, he enjoys some Monty magic and Suter is never heard from again.
Yeah I don’t like that…
I’ll be honest: I don’t absolutely hate it but I don’t love it. Like that “prospect” isn’t much. He’s a coast player. The difference between 2nd and a 4th isn’t too huge. Fowler might be ok on a different team? Maybe he takes suters spot

Army when he sees an aging mid D man
Edit: Also, Mr. Fowler best be ready to play 2c.
If Kessel was already assigned to the AHL. Do we assume Fowler plays tonight?
So basically Leddy is done so we got another Leddy? Signed for 1 more year? Leddy looked like shit this year but clearly he was dealing with something. I thought he was decent enough last season and if Fowler plays at that level it’s an ok (not great) move.
Lolol 9 games before his 1000th.
Thats brutal.
Also. I bet there are some grumbles in the locker room. Haha traditionally, the teammates chip in for a nice gift for the 1,000th game.
Hahaha do the blues have a whole ass ceremony and everything?
I don’t see a big issue. Gave up little for a veteran d-man that can add some depth to our blue line. Not going to change the franchise or anything but I don’t think it makes us worse. Not every trade is intended to be a home run, seems like there’s always negative reception for overall minor moves like this.
Too many people shitting on this deal.
Fowler on a 2nd/3rd pairing and getting PP minutes will be an asset I think, given we have more forward depth than the Ducks and are a bit more responsible defensively.
Granted, Scotty P. might be able to fill the same role, but keep in mind Scotty P. is also made of glass.
He’s not meant to come in here and eat 24-25 minutes a game like he was tasked with in Anaheim for years, he’s meant to be an upgrade over Joseph and Suter, which I think he is.
Lol Doug loves old, bad defenseman.
Meh, it’s another patch…but not a miserable pick up. He’s playing on a terrible ducks team and has eaten up a large chunk of minutes for them while sitting at -7.
Bruh how is this positive whatsoever. You trades decent right hand prospect and a second for a washed up fowler. Ok Doug whatever man. Keep ruining our prospects bro.

Don’t you DARE think the Blues want to pick in the second round. Tried it twice last year, decided never again.
This is not bad at all. Minimal risk and Fowler still has some good hockey in him imo
How many times are we going to make the same mistake before we learn that it doesn’t help?
We’re trading a 4th round pick for a 2nd round pick. That’s big.
However, I don’t see need for Fowler at this point. He’s basically taking Perunovich’s spot, which I think is foolish. We gave up on Dunn, Mikkola, Wahlman and now it seems like we’re prepared to make the same mistake with Perunovich.
