Liverpool’s left-back issues have been widely acknowledged this season, but they were laid bare for all to see in this afternoon’s 2-2 draw with Fulham.

Andy Robertson firstly didn’t track Andreas Pereira for the Cottagers’ opener, as a ball from Antonee Robinson was dispatched calmly by the Brazilian.

Robertson was then subsequently sent off in the 18th minute, again not seeing Harry Wilson in his periphery, wildly swinging to clear a through ball and hacking Wilson down with Fulham through on goal.

Due to the nature of the challenge, Robertson will be given a one-game ban. However, the FA rules enable red card suspensions to be carried over to domestic cup competitions, so while he will miss the Reds Southampton (A) clash on Wednesday in the EFL Cup, he will be available for Liverpool’s Premier League visit to Tottenham on December 22.

Liverpool didn’t quite get the result they wanted on Saturday afternoon against Fulham.

From the beginning, they were up against the odds with Andy Robertson picking up an injury and then getting himself sent off as Fulham took the lead.

But a valiant performance by a ten-man Liverpool meant they could salvage at least one point from the game.

Nonetheless, the two draws in a row in the league will be frustrating for many supporters and everyone involved with the club, including John Henry’s wife.

Liverpool will be without Arne Slot for their next game against Southampton.

After Andy Robertson picked up a red card and earned himself a one-match suspension, Slot followed suit with a suspension of his own.

The Liverpool head coach was booked for complaining about a foul made on Curtis Jones which means he will now also receive a one-match touchline ban.

That means against Southampton in the League Cup it will be Slot’s assistant taking charge of the Reds? But just who is the assistant manager of Liverpool?

After being sidelined for a few months, Jota was finally declared fit to be in Arne Slot’s squad for the Fulham game.

And after 70 minutes of frustration against the visitors, Slot gave Jota his first run out since October against Chelsea.

Just six minutes into his return, the Portuguese striker was able to get himself on the scoresheet to give Liverpool a valuable point to take home with them in what was an enthralling contest, where the Reds had to battle with adversity from the off.

Following Darwin Nunez’s struggles in front of goal, it will be a sigh of relief for Liverpool to see a goal come from one of their strikers.
