  1. This year has made it very clear that none of the gas bags have a clue. JJ is a project like a Jordan Love or an Aaron Rodgers, Sam Darnold is a complete QB playing better than both id add the vikings have 76 million in cap space for next year

  2. Jj McCarthy starts next year , Darnold deserves a good contract as a starter somewhere we love him here but we drafted a rookie and he needs to get his opportunity and we need to start building our team

  3. It's been beat to death in the comments already but yeah, JJ was never the intended starter this season. Sam was signed BEFORE the draft, KOC literally said he intended for Sam to start, AND KOC infamously quoted that organizations ruin talented new QBs by starting them immediately. If Sam sucked out the gate then yeah he may have been benched for JJ. But here we are!

  4. It’s the coaching, Sam Darnold is only good because of Coach Kevin O’Connell. If he wants to be a successful QB and has half a brain, he will sign a friendly contract.

  5. It's not just assuming DJ is gonna be Sam Darnold if needs be next year. It's also assumed Sam is going to be a mistake to pay like Jones was. Only difference being that Jones was no where near this good. I get there's the fear there of paying the man after Cousins and DJ have rinsed organisations, but if you can get away with a 35 mil contract I would do it. Or franchise tag him

  6. They will discuss the mutual benefits and fairness with Sam should they "tag" him….and with little argument, they ultimately will. Sam will view his position as, "I will be getting paid 4 times what they gave me last year… do I really need that to become 4.1 or 4.2 times as much? I'm comfortable here, I know the team, I know the offense, they already like me, and they gave me a chance to resurrect my career." And a gracious and "even-keeled" Sam will say to himself," I'll stay, even if I can get a little better deal". somewhere else.

  7. Rams and Steelers would jump at Darnold. Vikings need to keep Darnold. What if the Vikings know Week 17 they can't win division and have #4 spot locked up. Then Week 17 play Daniel Jones with KOC's QB whispering. Jones lights up the Lions week 17 and then the Vikings Trade Jones?

  8. Darnold will not have much success with another team. The reason he's on fire this year is because of the system in Minnesota and because of Coach Kevin. Coach is the right guy for Darnold. Even Daniel Jones would have success under this coach.

  9. Crazy idea. As far as we know, Giants wanted to trade up for JJ McCarthy. If the Vikings maybe found in Sam Darnold someone who plays good in there system, the Giants could trade for JJ McCarthy 🤔

  10. He looks like a star to me! That arm talent is rare… Btw, the plan was for Sam to start the season all along but JJ was pressing him by the 3rd preseason game… The rest of what you say is pure Florio speculation… Fact…

  11. I think Darnold would probably leave money on the table to avoid a dysfunctional team. I am going to throw San Francisco 49ers as an interesting thought. Do you pay Purdy 'franchise' money…ie…$50 mill+ per or Sam Darnold at significant savings?

  12. The odds of JJ ever becoming as good as Darnold has played this year are low. The Vikings almost have to try to get Darnold back next year or at least franchise him.
