Moises Caicedo really impressed Jason Cundy with one thing that he did in the first half of Chelsea’s London derby against Brentford.
Unsurprisingly, Moises Caicedo was named in Enzo Maresca‘s starting XI for the game.
The midfielder has been a vital player for Maresca this season, not missing one Premier League fixture.
Caicedo’s long passing has been good in the current campaign, and it was on show once again at Stamford Bridge earlier.

Early in the first half of Chelsea’s west London derby versus Brentford, Caicedo played an over the top ball to Nicolas Jackson.
The striker could not convert his chance, but it was a move that really impressed Cundy.
While commentating on the game for Chelsea’s official website (15/12/2024 at 19:11), the former Blues defender said: “It’s a brilliant pass, what a ball from Caicedo! It’s raking, it’s long, it’s straight as well.”
After not being too impressed with him last season, Rangers legend Ally McCoist thinks Caicedo has been “excellent”.
Moises Caicedo more than a tackling machine
Caicedo is one of the best ball-winning midfielders in the Premier League, perhaps the best.
Last season, the 23-year-old made 2.6 tackles per game, which was the second-highest average in Chelsea’s squad, according to WhoScored.
However, Caicedo has also proven to be a very effective passer, as he showed against Brentford. He also scored a fantastic volley in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United last month.
Ultimately, right now, the Ecuadorian looks like the complete midfielder. You do not hear too many people mentioning his £115m price tag these days.
Next up for Caicedo and Chelsea in the Premier League is a trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton. Sean Dyche’s men got a point against Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal on Saturday, showing that they can stop a dangerous attack.
The Blues’ record at Goodison is not great either, so it could be a really hard game for them. Last term, they lost the same fixture 2-0.
